Ok. I'm no fine dining expert and this is exactly why I feel quite comfortable as the founder of http://www.expatchoice.asia to write a few words about The English House.

Firstly, I love English fare and I appreciate everything from a fish pie to a full on Roast Chicken/lamb/beef dinner or a scotch egg at that. I love food, full stop. What I also love is ambiance when I'm out at a restaurant. The staff here are more than exception. They are family. They make the guests feel special. At home like in your dining room with mum in the kitchen cooking up more than a storm.

When you dine at The English House you will see plenty of memorabilia on the walls and in the ornate, and sometimes antique looking display cabinets. I am told these pieces come from Marco Pierre Whites private collection back in the UK so that's got to be special - just in itself.

You will also notice that every piece of crockery that your meal is served on is authentic English crockery.

Start your meal with a good old Mr Walsh's English Pea and ham soup. I love this soup. My mother would make this soup when I was a wee lad and yes, I would lap it up. This soup starter is nothing short of monumental, harking back to the days my dear old mum was alive. I was a little sentimental sipping away on my Sunday afternoon visit.

Main boards has quite the selection from Roast Fillet of Black Angus accompanied with a Yorkshire Pud, Braised Oxtail and onion gravy - quite the classic and a creamed Horseradish or go for the Wheelers Scottish Salmon Fishcake served with a poached egg and Sauce Tartare.

Although it is hard to go past the Braised Ox Cheek a la Bourguignon....

Of course there are puddings and cheeses and all that goes with a good English fare including a classic Apple crumble, a Sherry Trifle Wally Ladd and the Box Tree Eton mess.... just saying

The menu will be changing from month to month so you can return with a new experience to behold. 4 courses will set you back $75 and this included Canapes...

I like the English House, I love the ambiance and, I appreciate the service and care that was given on my and Christine's last visit. Highly recommended as an experience....It's not fine dining... it's just good old fashioned family fare served at your "unique" English dining table.... as all tables are of different shapes and sizes...in an exquisite surrounds. xxx
