Prego at Fairmont Singapore welcomes visitors to rediscover the joys of togetherness with La Famiglia, a Sunday sharing buffet designed to bring families and friends together around the table. Italian Chef Davide Bizzarri crafted the cuisine, embodying ancient Italian traditions where food serves as a celebration of community and generosity. La Famiglia, inspired by Chef Davide's childhood recollections of long, laughter-filled Sunday meals in Italy, encapsulates the warmth of genuine Italian hospitality in the heart of Singapore.

Prego has been one of Singapore's renowned Italian dining places for over three decades, and it remains loyal to its heritage by serving hearty cuisine in a pleasant and elegant atmosphere. The sharing experience begins with a colourful assortment of antipasti. Guests can enjoy Burrata flown in from Puglia, carefully paired with heirloom tomatoes, Tuscan kale pesto, Leccino olives, and fresh greens produced from Fairmont Singapore's pioneering Aquaponics Farm. The traditional Insalata di Cesare is elevated with anchovy, bacon, and Parmesan croutons, while the soothing Zuppetta di Mare, a seafood stew fortified with white wine and tomato stock, can be augmented with an optional half Boston lobster.

The centre of the table is quickly filled with signature mains that highlight Prego's mastery of handcrafted pasta and wood-fired pizza. Burrata Malloreddus is made with Sardinian wheat gnocchetti and covered with wagyu beef Bolognese and mascarpone for a rich, delicious mouthful. Sapori di Bosco, topped with garlic cream, pancetta, ham, porcini mushrooms, pine nuts, smoked scamorza, and seasonal Italian truffles, is a favourite among pizza fans.

The Branzino, a full sustainable sea bass cooked Isolana-style with roasted potatoes, olives, tomatoes, and capers, is unquestionably the highlight of the meal, exemplifying Prego's commitment to sustainability and traditional Italian tastes. A trio of desserts entice the palette to round out the meal. The classic Tiramisù combines mascarpone, espresso, and Savoiardi cookies, while the whimsical Cannoli Pizza is covered with chocolate cream, pistachio praline, and basil raspberry. The exquisite Panna Cotta, softly laced with sea salt, lemon, and dill confit, serves as a refreshing conclusion.

The La Famiglia meal is designed for groups of four or more, priced at $72++ per person, and offered every Sunday from 12pm to 2:30pm. Guests can make the event even more special by ordering a bottle of San Martino Pinot Grigio, Pinot Nero, or Ceretto Moscato for $48++. To make a reservation, please call +65 6431 6156 or email dining.singapore@fairmont.com

Prego's pleasant environment, with its clean décor, Italian-inspired touches, and closeness to City Hall MRT, makes it a wonderful setting for relaxed Sunday meals. Guests not only enjoy handmade Italian cuisine but also Fairmont Singapore's larger dedication to sustainable dining practices, as evidenced by the pioneering Aquaponics Farm. Whether for a family gathering or a day with friends, La Famiglia at Prego promises an unforgettable gastronomic journey steeped in history, hospitality, and community spirit.

Expat Choice reporter Rebecca Assice indulges in Prego's La Famiglia Sunday Mother's Day Lunch: A Culinary Celebration of Family

There's something utterly magical about Italian family-style dining that transcends the mere act of eating. It's about connection, celebration and the pure joy of breaking bread together. This Mother's Day, I discovered that Prego at Fairmont Singapore has perfected this cherished tradition with their new Sunday La Famiglia family sharing lunch – a gastronomic journey that delights both palate and soul.

Having been a cornerstone of Singapore's Italian dining scene since 1986, Prego continues to reinvent itself while staying true to its authentic Italian roots. The La Famiglia lunch is testament to their unwavering commitment to excellence and understanding of what makes family dining special.

Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the restaurant's warm ambiance – sophisticated yet welcoming, with that distinctly Italian flair that makes you feel instantly at home, including an impressive display of homemade fresh pasta. The service staff, attentive and knowledgeable, guided us through what would become a memorable culinary adventure.

The sharing concept encourages conversation and connection, exactly what Sunday family lunches should be about. But be warned – come with an appetite! The generosity of the portions reflects true Italian hospitality, where no one leaves the table hungry.

Our feast began with air-flown Burrata – creamy, decadent and simply divine. The delicate cheese, served at the perfect temperature, melted in our mouths, setting a high standard for what was to come. The Lobster Bisque followed, rich and velvety with an intense seafood flavour that spoke of careful preparation and quality ingredients.

Then arrived what I can only describe as the most Instagram-worthy pizza I've ever encountered. This visual masterpiece topped with lemon ricotta, potato, tomato and finished with an indulgent touch of caviar, beautifully balanced flavours both delicate and bold. Traditional Italian cooking with a contemporary twist – Prego clearly understands the art of evolution while honouring tradition.

The seafood stew was a particular highlight – brimming with succulent lobster, plump clams, tender mussels and perfectly cooked fish in a fragrant broth that had us unashamedly requesting extra bread to soak up every last drop.

While the savoury courses impressed, it was the dessert selection that truly created that wow moment. The Sweet Pasta – an artistic arrangement of vanilla mascarpone, compressed strawberry and basil – challenged our perceptions of dessert in the most delightful way. The Trio Cheesecake with parmesan crumble, mascarpone cheese and cream cheese offered a sophisticated interplay of textures and flavours. But it was the rose-shaped raspberry rose gelato that had everyone at our table gasping in appreciation – a stunning visual creation that tasted as magnificent as it looked.

What makes Prego particularly family-friendly is their thoughtful consideration for younger diners. My children were thoroughly entertained by the vintage car inside the restaurant – a charming touch that allowed the adults to linger over our meal in relative peace, a rare luxury any parent will appreciate.

As Singapore's dining scene continues to evolve, it's reassuring to see established venues like Prego maintain their relevance through innovation while preserving what has made them successful for nearly four decades. The La Famiglia Sunday lunch is a perfect example of this philosophy – honouring the traditions of Italian family dining while offering an experience that feels fresh and exciting.

For families seeking a memorable Sunday dining experience, Prego's La Famiglia lunch provides the perfect alchemy of exceptional food, attentive service and an atmosphere that celebrates the joy of gathering around a table with loved ones. Molto bene!
