Published - 13 September 2021, Monday

In keeping its promise of serving the heartiest Australian fare created with the freshest premium ingredients, Australian-inspired steakhouse Barossa Bar & Grill is pleased to unveil a new menu boasting a brand new selection of appetisers, small plates, an enhanced Josper Grill section, revised mains and over 100 selection of red and white wines.

The new VivoCity outlet shines the spotlight on dry-aged Australian beef and Josper oven-grilled lamb, poultry and seafood dishes. The Australian-inspired restaurant serves only the highest quality and carefully sourced meats from Australian farms.

Headlining the show is one Kagoshima A4 Wagyu Beef as well as a New Zealand Lamb Rack with Moroccan Spice for new choices that nonetheless retain the same quality and consistency that Barossa is known for.

Barossa is an Australian-inspired steakhouse where ‘outback meets chic’. Here, you can tuck into hearty fare created with the freshest ingredients from premium grades of Australian beef, to high quality lamb rack, poultry, and seafood dishes.

New surprises in the menu include the French Duck Rillette, which sees breast and thigh confit in duck fat. Meant for communal sharing, the Small Bites Trio of Salmon Cornet, Chicken Chicharron and Hokkaido Scallop Tartare is bound to whet your appetite.

From the fiery furnace of the Josper charcoal grill, Barossa has perfected the way to cook a new Japanese Kagoshima A4 Wagyu Beef Sirloin (180g) (S$48/100g).

The controlled heat of the oven melts the high marbling of the beef just right to leave it buttery tender inside while boasting an ideal golden brown crust outside from the prized Maillard reaction, perfect to be served with garlic confit, some blistered tomato and choice of one sauce.

New among the mains is one New Zealand Lamb Rack with Moroccan Spice (S$48), a whole rack of lamb cooked juicy tenderness laced with intense flavours thanks to a rub of Moroccan spices, made from a combination of ground cumin, paprika, coriander, turmeric, allspice, cloves, ginger, and cinnamon. Grilled US asparagus and a cumin brown sauce round off the flavours with a green herbaceousness for a meal that meets all palatial expectations.

A place where you will find excellent meat grilled to perfection – The Barossa Bar & Grill! Located in VivoCity, overlooking the expanse of water that stretches out to Sentosa, The Barossa Bar & Grill churn out top quality meals paired with delicious red and white wines.

I enjoyed a sip of Chardonnay with the starter of duck rillette served with pickled onions and French baguette. Just the thing to get my taste buds going. If you frequent Barossa Bar & Grill in a large group then a variety of small plates maybe the way to go.

From Hokkaido scallop tartare, grilled Haloumi and signature grilled sausages in the mix these varieties will suit every palette. However if you are one of those with a smaller appetite and usually venture straight to the main, then go for it. Mains here are a must!

Priced at $48 for New Zealand lamb rack marinated with Moroccan spice and served with grilled asparagus and charred brussel sprouts, this is worth every penny.

The chef at Barossa Bar & Grill served it pink - perfect way to have lamb. Tender and moist to the bite the two sauce accompaniments were also spot on.

Beef lovers you have something special to look out for. I devoured every bite of the Japan Kagoshima A4 Wagyu Beef Striploin which was a perfect 200g portion.

Served with a whiskey mustard sauce or red wine reduction the meat was tasty enough without any condiments. A cos lettuce accompaniment made for such a good complement to lighten the fatty meat which oozed deep flavors.

Locally farmed Barramundi fish “En Papillote” wrapped in paper was served with aromatic vegetables and potatoes. Oven baked for 15 minutes or so the fish fell apart at the touch.

So delicious and filled with juices from the gravy it would be a great choice for fish lovers!

Whether you order meat or fish I would say the signature dishes at Barossa Bar & Grill, are definitely in the main meals that are on offer. Funny that I should say this. as my modus operandi usually is to skip mains in replacement for two starters.

If you are up for a modern take on the infamous Bombe Alaska (I knew in my growing-up days) then this is a dessert not-to-be missed. Layered with yuzu sorbet, cheesecake, lemon curd mousse and Limoncello it was light and refreshing to the palette.

A perfect end to a fabulous variety of meals staged so well, that left me totally satiated.

This is part of the new menu launched at Barossa Bar & Grill so when restrictions open you may want to head on down to try for yourself. For now, delivery is also available so regulars, keep your patronage going.

It is this time that many restaurants value the support of diners. With restrictions imposed, they are as close as a phone call away.
