Helmed by homegrown culinary maestro Chef Derek who has worked with world-renowned chefs and set up numerous restaurants overseas throughout his career. After the successful opening of El Patio, a Spanish restaurant in Shanghai, Chef Derek is back to lead Sake Labo.

Chef Derek was awarded Mentor Chef of the Year by At-Sunrice Global Chef Academy for three consecutive years (2011, 2012, 2013). In 2021, he was also a finalist at the World Gourmet Summit Awards Chef of The Year. With his culinary expertise, Sake Labo clinched the title “Best Japanese Restaurant (Casual Dining)” at Epicurean Star Awards 2021 organised by Restaurant Association of Singapore.

At Sake Labo Japanese delicacy meets Spanish influence. Expect a vibrant mesh of hearty Spanish tapas favourites with Japanese inflections and vice versa; traditional Japanese izakaya nosh interpreted with playful irreverence. The Japas menu is created with one thing in mind – to complement the specially curated collection of sakes.

The nibbles Japas section of Sake Labo's menu offers small plates like "Kawahagi" leather jacket fish with tobiko mayo, which allows customers to savoury marinated fish strips that have been roasted in josper for a charred finish.

The small Japas section appetizers include "Labo Salada," a healthy bowl of deliciousness with mesclun leaves, fruit tomatoes, and wasabi soy served chilled, and "O.F.C," 6 panko sprinkled juicy drumlets.

The Japas menu wouldn't be complete without the premium section, which offers a variety of dishes to choose from, such as the "Chilled Truffle Kombu Udon," Inaniwa udon tossed in truffle soy and kombu, or the "Kaisen Paella," which includes an assorted mix of seafood.
