Bake it till you make it. Amrita shares her thoughts - My passion for baking started as a hobby in my grandmother's kitchen when I was 14 years old. Watching my mum bake for the entire family, I realised how baking and love went hand in hand. From there, my passion grew, and soon enough I was taking over baking for the family. I would spend hours scouring the internet and cookbooks for new recipes to try.
As I grew older and my passion galvanised, I began to take an even more active role in developing my baking skills. As a result, I pursued baking courses, including the one at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York and by the famous cake designer, Julian Angel. It soon struck me that most of my time spent outside of my job as a school teacher was devoted to baking because I loved it so much.
With a little help from friends and family, I took a leap of faith and quit my day job so that I could make baking a way of life. I intend to eventually conduct my own baking classes along with the business so that everyone has the opportunity to eat delicious cakes made from scratch at home. With all these plans and a business to run, everyday brings something new and exciting and I’ve not looked back since starting Amrita’s Artisan Bakeology!
At the moment Amrita Artisan Bakeology is focused on wanting clients to enjoy the experience, from the moment they receive the burnt cheesecake. The box came with a beautiful red ribbon and a personal note attached. Something I didn’t expect!
My first thought – hmmm this would make for a great gift. Order and have it delivered to a friend as a surprise for a special occasion. I am always on the lookout for artisan gifts that are unique and pleasing to the discerning one.
On opening the box another surprise! Flowers strewn on top of the cheesecake that made it look like it had been made in the country somewhere. Little House on the Prairie type of country baking. Wow!
The final wow had to come from the taste. Creamy in texture, it was delicious. The burnt flavours came through, which contrasted the not-so-sweet cheesecake. It conformed to all my preferences for a stunning dessert!
Be sure to leave it in the refrigerator until you are ready to devour it. An hour before consumption would suffice.
Well there you have it! A tip for a great special occasion gift, which costs $48 for a 5 inch one and $58 for a berried variety (for 4-6 pax). Should you be in the Emerald Hill area you may choose to pick it up yourself. Otherwise delivery is $15.
Cheesecake lovers you have to try this! It’s one of a kind – truly artisan!
I’m a firm believer in quality over quantity so I’m currently focused on baking delicious burnt cheesecakes and due to the artisanal nature of my business, I have a limited number of daily slots for orders.I'm sure you're the type of person who enjoys the delicious things in life!
