Yuè @Aloft

Yue at Aloft Singapore

Yuè means music, and, true to its name, the restaurant takes it a note or two higher. The restaurant team keeps the dishes named after the inspiring songs from their daily playlist. What a way to cook! We're on the edge of our seats to try sumptuous dishes like deep-fried cod fish, creamy milk and salted egg lime sauce, sweet & sour pork with popping candy, and Assam fish head. Standing proud as a part of the world’s largest Aloft Hotel, Yuè has an amicable vibe and modern, chic decor. Image Credit: Yue At Aloft Facebook Page

1918 Heritage Bar

1918 Bar

Celebrating the year, 1918 pays homage to the spices traded by the Alkaff family and their cocktails are named after important events related to the Alkaff Mansion. What’s in it for us foodies, you inquire? Their signature cocktails are heady, and we'd recommend going for Garden Glitz, Fortune Arise, and Alkemy. The food is incredible, and we love their Sambal Clams, Chilli Crab Kueh Pie Tee, Seafood Pizza, Honey Glazed Pork Ribs, Baked Scallop, and a dessert of Fried Mochi or Spanish ‘You Tiao’ (pandan churros with Kit Kat dip). Wagyu-X

Wagyu X sirloin

Enjoy a unique Hokkaido wagyu created through the cross-breeding of an aberdeen angus bull and a kuroge black wagyu cow. The technique isn't found outside of Japan, but Chef Masahisa Takada has made it possible in the island city. The resulting meat is neither too fatty nor too meaty, just a luxurious texture with the flavours of an angus steak. Start with a mushroom cappuccino, then choose your preferred portion of the wagyu x sirloin steak, and finish with an apple strudel dessert with vanilla ice cream. Choose from a variety of sides for your steak, like wakame cucumber with ponzu dressing, roasted Japanese pumpkin with walnut, or caramelised Japanese sweet corn.

El Chido

El Chido

Bite into juicy tacos, creamy guacamole, and tastiest sliders at El Chido pairing them with potent cocktails by Dario Knox, an award-winning barman. The scenic views of Marina Bay plus the option to splash around in an infinity pool with live music create the perfect vibe for us. Go for their nacho man for a fully loaded experience with a choice of beef or impossible beef. We also recommend their smoked duck breast tacos, fried barramundi tortilla, and Mexican churros. Pair the food with Cactus Mojito, Mariachi’s Margarita, or choose from a selection of tequila, mezcal, and other spirits. Image Credit: Pullmansingapore.com

Puffy bois

Puffy Bois

Pizza lovers would know how kick-ass the pop-ups by Puffy bois were, and now they have their own place so there’s an endless supply of good pizza. They have a friendly vibe, like going to a friend’s place for good music, pizza, and lots of drinks. Go for a classic margherita, or opt for their unique offerings like Parma-Roni, Black Clam, and Spiced Arti. We went ahead and tried all the slices and we're happy campers when it comes to taste. The pizzas go insanely well with their lip-smacking cocktails like Duck and Weave, Sour Crush Cooler and Upper Echelon.

Sansara

Sansara

Chef Akhilesh Pathak’s restaurant, Sansara, celebrates the classic North Indian cuisine with an added oomph of modern techniques and refinement. The decor itself lends itself to a setting we usually see in sophisticated, old-school restaurants in New Delhi and it certainly replicates the vibe. Coming to their menu, we must confess that we find their succulent lamb dishes like sansara-e-lazeez maas and gosht nehari irresistible. The vegetarian dishes like kumbh ki galouti (mushroom kebab) and soya chaap hara pyaaz are divine and definitely worth a try. Their specialties also include murgh paan kebab, awadhi gosht biryani, and sailana jheenga, and for dessert, kulfi falooda. Image Credit: Sansara Facebook Page

Bacata

Columbian flavours in a refined, modern setting is a feat well accomplished by Chef Fernando Arévalo at Bacatá. The Latin American food is celebrated with dishes like hokkaido scallops with sancocho broth and gooseberries, cordero a caballo, a roasted and chargrilled lamb saddle with a maple glaze, paired with bacon and hogao sauce, and arepa con cerdo, grilled corn cakes paired with a pork shoulder cooked in the oven. Go for their chef’s tasting menu for the best, most tantalising experience. Exit Stage Left

Exit Stage Left

An ode to the bygone era of the new world amusement park, which shut down in the 1960s, Exit Stage Left attempts to reminisce about the fun times through their ambience, food, and drinks. The old amusement park was famous for its children's train rides, opera, and, of course, cabaret, and now this bar replicates the vibe with its crimson walls, 60s-inspired bar, and flavours of Singapore using locally sourced distilled spirits. Get raunchy and try their heady cocktails like the songbird, Fong Fong’s revue, and Single and Delectable to be a part of the glorious 60s. Image Credit: Ohstories.sg

Marimekko is a famous design brand from Finland, and it has recently opened its concept store and cafe. The unique designs reflect not just in the store but also on the prints found on the cafe furniture. You can shop here a bit, check out the designs, and grab a quick cup of coffee. But we recommend staying back a bit longer. The cafe has plenty of savoury options, like Mexican beef pie and mushroom pie along with a variety of sweet treats.
