Expat Reporter Sylvia Fernandes Reviews Luxe Dining at La Savoir Scotts Square

  • La Savoir Luxury Dining Redefined With Comfort

La Savoir which translates to “the knowledge” has opened its doors on level two of Scotts Square. Away from the madding crowd of Orchard Road, this serene enclave - parts of which overlook Scotts Road, is a luxurious hideaway when one is in need of reprieve.

A deep desire for continuous learning to present the best, I loved the relaxed spaces created at La Savoir. An outside area with leafy surroundings, private rooms, a bar to sit at for casual dining and the usual table seating. Designed with light wood and cyan accents, stepping in to this restaurant uplifted my spirits.

This would be a great venue for a private dining event where one part of the restaurant could be cordoned off for privacy. A breakfast menu of waffles, French toast - a favourite of mine, and eggs benedict would be a great reason to dine in this comfortable setting.

I liked the menu. I thought it was well thought out. From small bites, starters, sharing plates to soups, pasta, mains and dessert, they were all a draw for me. Starting with a La Savoir butter board I loved the three styles of freshly made butter that were a complement to varieties of bread served.

We started with charred octopus, wild sprouts salad and bread, a good introduction to the stunning presentation doubled up by the crockery each dish was served in. Sprouts, my favourite side dish these days was tossed with delicious yuzu aioli and bonito flakes.

Smoked duck pasta was so well tossed in a leek bacon ragout with linguine. It was so good I would recommend you don’t offer to share this with anyone at your table.

We chose to have the truffle chicken ballotine, a signature at La Savoir and a rather generous helping. Priced at $32 I thought it was so well worth it. My suggestion would be to order two mains and share them as this came with four pieces, easily had by two.

Signature trio sliders (pictured below) also looked good. Served in three styles with foie gras, classic cheddar beef patty and lightly battered snapper, I thought this rather inventive providing variety in one dish.

What I liked about the menu at La Savoir was that there were a few meals under in each category, rather than a plethora to choose from. Three desserts on offer. We decided to go for the dark chocolate crème brulee which was awesome.

Accompanied by raspberries, pistachio crumbs and a mixed berry sorbet it was the perfect end to a really excellent meal. Of course a glass or two of Prosecco, white or red wine complemented the entire experience.

My bet is La Savoir will do extremely well for the ambience that it provides, cool and relaxing vibes away from the buzz. Whether breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner it has an all-day dining charm that fits every appetite.
