In Singapore, are you seeking a delectable and distinctive, artisanal Spanish aka Basque eating experience? Look no further than Asador Singapore, on Joo Chiat Place! This post will transport you to this intriguing restaurant's flavours and ambience on a mouthwatering journey.

For Spanish and Basque food enthusiasts, Asador Singapore offers a really memorable experience, from the smoky grill to the friendly personnel. Asador's cuisine includes something for everyone, whether you're a seasoned carnivore or just seeking a memorable night out. See the FULL BLOG HERE.

They are the 'sister' restaurant of Next Door Spanish Cafe in Siglap, literal neighbours of ours. I remember the first time of eating the founders, Chef Hussein and Joseba, the living legends of the East Coast food scene.

And they turned two years old this week, on 26th April 2023. The invitation to this rare occasion of a private party to mark their second anniversary left my wife and me feeling incredibly honoured and humbled, actually taken aback. We have a babysitter arranged, our glad rags are on, and tonight we are dining in style. Oh, yes, baby...

We had an absolutely fantastic eating experience tonight, as we always do, with new mouthwatering delicacies created by Basque artists who are masters of their trade.

I still recall the day Joseba, one of the co-founders, informed me that they would be opening Asador Singapore. A few months later, there was a blind panic over the Spanish Castilian Oven's brick-by-brick delivery delay. Yes, that is not a pizza oven; rather, it is used for baking and cooking over fire, which is a fundamental component of Basque artisanal cooking.

Asador Singapore Menu, 2nd Anniversary Dinner, 26th April 2023

It was a special and fixed menu, with accompanying wine-pairing for the 2nd year celebrations this day. An exquisite menu, truly wonderful. We ended up deep in a food coma, literally having to retire to the outdoor table so we could stand up. So much wonderful food was consumed today. Unlike Oliver, we would not ask for more. Food coma rules!!!

Sadly, you know me, I don’t do fish so Chef had to meander off-piste for me. For that Chef I am forever sorry and in your debt for the bespoke creations you served up. I slap myself for being non-piscatorial. I truly annoy myself so much. I am piste off...

The Asador Singapore 2nd Anniversary Menu, was off-the-charts, and consisted of;

  • Onchoas; Santona’s premium anchovies on toast.
  • Ostras; Japanese oysters, celery and apple granita, Cava
  • Puntillitas; Baby Squid, Squid Ink Sauce, Egg Yolk & Sriracha
  • Gamba Roja de Palamos; Spanish Red Prawns, Sweet Peas & Prawn Dashi
  • Rape con Salsa de Vino;
  • Monkfish, Red Wine Sauce & Button Mushrooms

Whilst there why not have a drink before, or after at the uber-cool, 60ml by Asador. 60ml by Asador, which is concealed behind a sliding mirror, has the atmosphere of a Chicago jazz speakeasy. Though small, it is still very cool. Jazz music floats while you sip on a staggering variety of cocktails and a vast selection of wines. It's stylish and unbelievably cool. What a start to your night.

Asador Singapore

This truly is an eating spot not to be missed; Asador Singapore, located in the lively Joo Chiat neighbourhood. This Basque eatery offers a huge selection of grilled meats and fresh fish that are influenced by Spanish and Basque cooking. Each dish is just so very good to eat, especially if you enjoy food that has been cooked over wood because it has a smoky flavour that permeates the entire dish.

Asador Singapore has a pricing that is not inexpensive, but is extremely reasonable for the quality of food you will receive, and superbly welcoming service, earning it a 5 out of 5 review from ISLIFEARECIPE.net. Today they turned TWO.

The Asador second-anniversary dinner: A set meal that was specially created by Asador Singapore to commemorate its second anniversary was superb. The enticing alternatives included cochinillo (off-menu just for me - thank you), grilled aged beef, and monkfish, all created by masters of their craft, the Basque craft. Chef Hussein and crew are artisans in their own right.

I can't wait until they turn 3-years-old. Bring it on Asador Singapore.
