Singapore’s largest wine and whiskey event is back in all its glory (and then some more). Presented by 1855 The Bottle Shop, the event’s fifth year will be held from May 16 – May 27 2018.
Wine & Whiskey Week attracts connoisseurs as well as wine and whiskey enthusiasts. The week-long event celebrates fine spirits and offers guests a peak into the world’s latest and most prized collections.
You can expect to see popular classics as well as tipples never sold in Singapore before, like the much-awaited blended Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare. Created by Johnnie Walker Master Distiller, Jim Beveridge, the alcohol is a robust melange of eight Scotch whiskies, including three 'ghost' whiskies from the distilleries of Cambus, Pittyvaich and the Highland Single Malt, Brora. Relish the interplay of light peatiness and mellow sweetness.
Wineries being introduced this year include Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio (the world’s first zero CO2 emissions farm), Duemani from Italy and the rising star from Chile- Viña Vik. More than 500 labels from over 10 countries will be on offer during the 12-day celebration of all things sublime. And yes, you may also taste an array of labels before deciding which one to buy. In fact, more than 100 varieties will be available for tasting at the venue.
Satiate your curiosity by attending a few of the eight master classes being held at the event. Understand the cultural significance of sake as Adrian Goh, Sake Sommelier at Interrice Asia explains the nuances of sake drinking. Or make a virtual trip to Scotland by attending a master class that takes you on a flavor journey of scotch whiskey. The session titled ‘The Influence of Casks’ is another great option presented by the Asia Pacific Regional Brand Ambassador for Glenfiddich.
The theme - ‘Behold the beauty of blends, soak in the spirit of single varietals’ hints at the variety of labels that will be displayed during Wine & Whiskey Week. Entry to the event is free and it will be held at 3 Tamasek Boulevard, Suntec City, Tower 4 East Atrium, Singapore, 11am -10pm from May 16 – May 27 2018.
