Cicheti

Published - 09 March 2021, Tuesday

Cicheti (pronounced chee-keh-tee) are the signature small plates native to Venetian bàcaris, or wine bars, that meld traditional Italian heritage with distinct Mediterranean influences. Likewise, occupying a two-storey shophouse unit along Kandahar Street—tucked in the backstreet of Singapore’s Arab quarter Kampong Glam—Cicheti is a rustic-chic trattoria that offers a distinctive perspective on Italian cuisine, earmarked by regional specialities and authentic, wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas presented in an urbane space where old-world charm is brought into modern design – all while spearheaded by an all-local kitchen team.

Cicheti gives you a complete Italian meal experience; Right from Marinated Olives and Sea Prawns antipasti to their Tonnarelli Nero tossed-in lump crabmeat, bird’s eye chili, garlic, spicy crumb. We found their Sopressata Pizza made with salami, chili, garlic, and spicy honey unique and tasty. We love tiramisu after an Italian meal but also love the Lemon Tart at Cicheti. So, we order both of them as should you!

Very good wood-fired oven pizza. I’m a pizza enthusiast and I’ll say with confidence this is in my top 3 in Singapore. The margherita di bufala was intensely good. Yes, intensely good. Ordered the squid ink pasta with crab meat too and slurped that up like my life depended on it. The lava cake HOT and gooey on inside with a slight crust on the outside (exactly how I like it), but I do wish the dessert menu was slightly more imaginative. Service was top notch! And the beautiful cosy interior surely didn’t hurt my positive experience. I look forward to being back! Jolene Khor reviewed Cicheti – 5 star on FaceBook
