The Dempsey Project, tucked in the charming enclave of Dempsey Hill invited us to enjoy their Wednesday feast. I remember every time I go to Dempsey Hill, mostly in the weekends, as quite busy and chaotic.
This time our experience at the Dempsey Project was chill, relaxed and very welcoming. The owner welcomed us and clearly just wants us to have a great time and enjoy good food and you can feel that attitude and thinking in the atmosphere and overall vibe of the restaurant, food and service is good and it is a great dining experience.
We joined them for their Wednesday’s Great Spice Potluck, in our (my husband and I) case we enjoyed the Nomadic Mongolian Edition. The Great Spice Potluck is a weekly journey through various international cuisines. It is presented as a series and features one international cuisine each month, to be served alongside their hearty signatures dishes (which I also absolutely also loved and recommend). We enjoyed and travelled around the Mongolian mountains of the North to the Gobi desert's in the South through the hearty line-up of meat and dairy-focused dishes, curated by the former Mongolian Ambassador’s spouse including bansh, khuushuur, uvchuu, plov and shorlogs.
It is surprisingly buzzing for a Wednesday with a variety of people enjoying drinks and food together. It is great to eat food from international kitchens you normally do not eat very often, paired with a glass of wine we enjoyed the Mongolian starters and mains very much. Service was great and recommended us other great dishes from the menu. Besides the Nomadic Mongolian food we enjoyed a few other great signature dishes, the Lamb Galouti Kebab and the Chicken Shorlog - which was tender, juicy and lovely.
A shoutout also goes out to the desserts (make sure to ask if they have desserts they baked or prepared fresh outside the menu). Try the warm almond coconut cake with dark chocolate glaze and vanilla ice cream, absolutely a fantastic dessert you will enjoy (they make it fresh every day), it was so incredibly good! For that cake alone I’ll go back to the Dempsey Project!
The Great Spice Potluck takes place every Wednesday evening from 6pm featuring different international cuisines every month. The next edition of the Great Spice Potluck is presenting dishes from Turkey and after that from Jordan. The owner of Project Dempsey informed us that they will feature food from all over the World, from the Scandinavian countries, the Middle East to Italy. Absolutely a fantastic concept and experience you don’t want to miss on the Wednesdays!
My new fav spot for Wednesdays with my friends, family or people who come from overseas. Don’t forget to also check out their regular menu. I highly recommend the Dempsey Project, we will be back soon to try more international food from far and away places!
