  • The Fullerton Hotels Singapore Present the Pink Afternoon Tea in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month This October

This October, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore will present curated Pink Afternoon Tea sets in support of Breast Cancer Foundation’s (BCF) dedication to raising awareness, promoting early detection of breast cancer and supporting those affected by it in Singapore.

Held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month from 3 to 31 October 2022, S$5 nett from the proceeds of each adult-priced set will be donated to BCF. Both sets are pink-themed editions of the signature offerings: the Traditional Afternoon Tea served at The Courtyard, located at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, and the Expressions Afternoon Tea served at The Landing Point, located at The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore, with the addition of a complimentary pink-themed cocktail.

Presented by Executive Pastry Chef Siddharth Prabhu, the Pink Afternoon Tea sets take inspiration from the iconic Pink Ribbon, a symbol of the foundation’s mission. Guests can enjoy rosy treats that taste as lovely as they look — for a good cause — and complete the occasion with a complimentary glass of the specially concocted ‘Iron Rose’ cocktail.

Pink Afternoon Tea at The Courtyard

Elegantly presented on three tiers, the Pink Afternoon Tea set at The Courtyard comprises classic English afternoon tea staples, laced with shades of pink. From Thursday to Sunday, a harpist enchants the high-ceiling atrium with graceful melodies.

The menu includes a round of storied teatime staples, from the simple yet elegant cucumber sandwich, reimagined with pastel pink mulberry cream cheese, to the distinctive Battenberg Cake — a quintessentially English dessert, created in 1884 as the royal wedding cake for Princess Victoria, granddaughter of Queen Victoria, and her husband Prince Louis of the Battenberg family.

Handcrafted daily, the assortment is presented alongside freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, paired with a selection of curated loose leaf TWG teas and a variety of coffees from Bacha Coffee.

At The Landing Point, the selection is reminiscent of Nature’s wild and diverse flora. Adorned with a flourish of edible flowers, the pastries are served on a custom-made tray and stand out distinctly against the glossy-black tray base — drawing one’s eye to the treats that await.

The savoury line-up awakens one’s taste buds from the late-afternoon lull. Taking reference from the modern Asian cuisine with Western influences, the rich flavours range from seared tuna tataki with pickled ginger and shio kombu powder, to duck rillettes and smoked duck from Les Landes in the south of France.

For dessert, Executive Pastry Chef Prabhu’s creations tell a tale of nostalgia and a return to one’s unique roots. Heritage-inspired treats include the ‘Egg Kaya Toast’, ‘Ice Gem Lemon Tart’ and ‘Nyonya Trifle’. The teatime repast is rounded off with freshly baked scones, clotted cream and jam, alongside a selection of curated loose leaf TWG teas and a variety of coffees from Bacha Coffee. Guests can enjoy the experience with live piano music daily.

Pink Cocktail - Iron Rose

For an extra touch of sparkle to the afternoon interlude, each adult-priced set will be served with a complimentary glass of Iron Rose cocktail (priced at S$22*). Specially concocted for the occasion, the alluring blend combines rose gin, litchi liqueur, rose liqueur and Mediterranean tonic — yielding the distinctive sweetness of rose and subtle lychee notes, carried on a refreshing wave of fizz.

Pink Facade Light-up - The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

In a show of support for efforts to raise breast cancer awareness, the façade of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore will also be lit up in pink daily from 3 to 31 October 2022, from 7.00 p.m. onwards.

Tickle me Pink with The Fullerton Hotel’s Pink Afternoon Tea

Another dreary rainy day on the Little Red Dot was decidedly brightened by my recent visit to the Fullerton Hotel for their special Pink Afternoon Tea in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Fullerton always enchants my senses from the moment I ascend the entrance stairs wonderful aromas abound and the high atrium lobby provides a sense of grandeur and majestic grace.

Proceeding to The Courtyard located at the lobby level, beautiful melodies from the harpist create a classy and sophisticated atmosphere.

With prompt and polite service we are seated at our spacious table for the afternoon tea which commences with a specially curated pink cocktail – called the Iron Rose it comprises Mirabeau Dry Rose Gin from France with Litchi Liqueur, Rose Liqueur and Mediterranean Tonic and is offered complimentary (normally $22++) for the month of October. A light and refreshing tipple to accompany the treats to follow.

A comprehensive tea and coffee menu offers twenty delightful flavours including exotic Bacha coffees such as Royal Pistachio, Orange Sky and 1910 (described as wild strawberries served with heavy cream) and the ever popular TWG Teas including Royal Orchid, Red Jasmine and Midnight Hour. Indeed something for even the most discerning palates.

A stunning three tiered cake stand arrives laden with classic English sweet and savoury treats, all tinted various shades of pink in support of Breast Cancer ($5 nett of the $51++ adult priced high tea set is also donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation).

The first two layers are the savouries with some of my favourites being the Smoked Duck, Mango, Raspberry and Walnut and the Chives Egg Truffle with Beetroot Mayonnaise. The Tiger Prawn, Stones Fruits Salsa Espelette with Mango Passionfruit Sauce was also a highlight.

A side serving of homely fresh baked scones accompanied by classic clotted cream and jam provides a perfect interlude before the impressive dessert tier.

Six beautifully handcrafted desserts adorn the top tier of the tea set and it is certainly hard to choose a favourite. From the Ice Gem Lemon Meringue Tart to the Berry Bean Curd Trifle, they are all a delight to behold and indulge in.

This is a wonderfully classic high tea experience and is well worth heading down with a few girlfriends or for a special mummy daughter date – a special treat that also supports a very good cause.

RATED 7 / 8

As I walked towards The Courtyard at the Fullerton Hotel, I was immediately mesmerized by the enchanting melody of the harp that was being played. Much to my delight, I was ushered by the staff to one of the tables where I could enjoy the front row experience of the live performance. I was really excited, as I was about to not only enjoy a lovely afternoon, but also be a part of a special, limited time only experience. The Pink Afternoon Tea experience only takes place once a year, during Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. From now to 31st October, S$5 nett from the proceeds of each adult-priced set will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF).

What would be apt to compliment a gorgeous experience? Well, a delicious cocktail, of course! Pretty in pink, the Iron Rose cocktail is specially concocted with Rose Gin, Litchi Liquer, Rose Liquer, and Mediterranean Tonic. Refreshing, with a floral bouquet, and the perfect light touch of sweetness, the complimentary glass of cocktail is the perfect way to kick start the Pink Afternoon Tea experience on a typically humid day in Singapore. It’s also available sans alcohol. For those who are keen to take this experience to another level, perhaps to celebrate a special occasion, Prosecco ($16++) is also available.

Next, I was spoilt for choice choosing between twenty varieties of Bacha coffees and loose leaf TWG teas to accompany the Pink Afternoon Tea set that I was about to sink my teeth into. In the spirit of the rose-hued theme, I decided on the Sakura! Sakura! Tea - a delicately aromatic blend of cherry blossoms and green tea.

The setting was perfect for an afternoon tête-à-tête, and even though the 3pm seating I was in was full, I did not feel it at all. The soft melody from the live harp performance, attentive and swift service by the staff, and good amount of space between tables all made for a comfortable, private experience.

When the elegant three-tiered Pink Afternoon Tea set was presented, it lit the table up with shades of pink. Executive Pastry Chef Siddarth Prabhu took inspiration from the iconic Pink Ribbon, a symbol of BCF’s mission to raise awareness of breast cancer and support those affected by it in Singapore.

The pink-themed classic English afternoon tea set was almost too pretty to eat. But of course, that thought did not stop me.

The classic cucumber sandwich remains elegant, simple and delicious even though it’s been given the pink treatment - thanks to pastel-pink mulberry cream cheese. The humble egg mayonnaise sandwich has been given a sophisticated twist - reimagined as Chives Egg Truffle, with Beetroot Mayonnaise. My personal favourite is the Roasted Prime Beef with Cornichon and Pickled Mustard Seed - oh savoury goodness!

The selection of sweet treats was almost dizzying - in a good way. Light sponge, jam and marzipan come together to create the pink-checkered Battenberg Cake. The trifle was brimming with beautiful berries, while the classic British fruit cake was topped with cream and pretty pink blooms. And of course, no English Afternoon tea is complete without scones. Freshly baked assortment of scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam, washed down with a good glug of warm team is just so satisfying.

By the end of the afternoon, I was relaxed, well-fed and happy. If I were you, I’d grab a girlfriend and head to the Fullerton hotel for the Pink Afternoon Tea at The Courtyard ASAP. What could be better than spending quality time over rose-hued yummy tea staples, and doing good for a cause, while enjoying a relaxing atmosphere with the melody of a harp? If that’s not heavenly, I don’t know what else is!

The Pink Afternoon Tea is available at the Fullerton Hotel from now till 31st October 2022; from S$51 per adult; S$26 per child.
