Aww crepe! That’s right. Today is all about where you can get mouth watering crepes and galettes reminiscent of traditional French flavours in our very own Singapore.

While talking about crepes, what mostly comes to mind is an overload of Nutella or dark chocolate topped with banana slices, loaded with rich and luscious whipped cream and (never enough) sliced strawberries with powdered sugar innocently sprinkled on top. But imagine if you could have crepes not only for breakfast, but for lunch or dinner as well. Today, Expat Choice brings you a list of eateries which promise you everything from classic French options to interesting variations with refined ingredients. Keep reading to find out more.

So France

So France

You don’t need to be “so French” to enjoy a good crepe. It doesn’t matter if you have a sweet tooth or prefer your crepe to be savoury flavoury, So France has you covered. The weekend brunch menu is one to look out for. The La Poulette includes a beautiful bechamel, Emmental, chicken and mushroom mix, which you can have as your main course. Follow that up with the La Tatin which comes with a healthy helping of caramelised apple and vanilla ice cream: the perfect way to end your meal. Image Credit: So France Facebook Page

Gather

Gather

Gather around at this cafe specialising in French crepes and galettes. If you’re in the mood to indulge, definitely go for the Burnt Caramel crepe loaded with (of course) burnt caramel with a dollop of Bordier butter. The showstopper is most definitely the Fig and Camembert crepe if you’re feeling a little adventurous. This one is a plate of sliced and rolled up crepes stuffed with Camembert cheese, loaded with honey, fig jam and lingonberries. Get your knives and forks out. Image Credit: Gather Facebook Page

Henri Charpentier

Henri Charpentier Singapore

We can’t imagine someone being bored of traditional crepes, but if you find yourself to be one of those, you might want to head over to Henri Charpentier, which is a French inspired Japanese style patisserie. The fine folks at HC pride themselves on interesting takes on the classic French dessert. While over there, we strongly recommend their unique take on the crepe suzette. Paper thin crepes beautifully swimming in a warm and cosy butter orange sauce tastes perfectly caramel-y and is the best option for a comforting dessert after a hearty meal. L’Angelus

L'Angelus Group

Did someone say crepes and liquer together? Okay, we’re sold. The quality of desserts at L’Angelus has to be top notch for it to have only one option for crepe and still make it to the top 7 list. The Les Crepe Suzette features piping hot pancakes in the crowd favourite orange butter sauce, served with fresh orange juice flambéed with the beautiful Grand Mariner liquer. If this is not a wholesome meal, I don’t know what is. Image Credit: L'Angelus Group Facebook Page

Entre-nous creperie

Feeling crepe-y? We know just the spot for you. Entre-Nous Creperie features a delicious range of savoury galettes perfect for your main course hankering. But be sure not to bite off more than you can chew. There is a wide range of decadent dessert options waiting for you to devour. Our favourite is the Brittany styled crepe, but you can also choose from the classic butter and sugar option, the Canadian maple syrup, grated coconut, banana, nutella or the extremely indulgent homemade ice cream which includes vegan and dairy free options as well. Le Faubourg

Le Faubourg

Do you ever feel like you need a relaxing afternoon with nothing but food and a book at a faraway island? Well, you don’t need to go too far with Le Faubourg in our very own Sentosa. This French creperie offers an extensive range of both, sweet and savoury galettes, with each one tastier than the other. If we still had to pick one, we’d go for the Odéon, which is topped with Serrano ham, camembert and roasted tomatoes. Another great option you can go for is the Châtelet, which is the perfect blend of smoked bacon and roasted potatoes paired up with onions, crème fraiche, egg and cheese. We know you’re still waiting for dessert options. Don’t worry, they have you covered. Call for the crepe which comes with a generous helping of homemade chocolate sauce, meringue and rich and creamy pistachio ice cream, to put perfect finishing touches to your meal. French Fold

French Fold

The brains behind Merci Marcel bring another hit by the name of French Fold. This one is an all day diner with mouth watering plates of galettes and crepes which will make your eyes pop out and mouths drool. There are delectable wheat based options which are people pleasers with flavours like Nutella, but the blockbuster hit for us is definitely the classic brown sugar and butter crepe. If you want to try your hands (and your taste buds) on a savoury option, call for the Butter from Maison Beillavaire, the Chiffonade of ham, which comes with an organic sunny side up with beautifully sauteed mushrooms and Comte cheese, or the Chorizo with the organic sunny side up, Comte cheese and mixed leaf salad. Someone’s going home happy tonight. Image Credit: French Fold Facebook Page
