Singapore Botanic Gardens

If there’s one spot you can never go wrong with, it’s the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Having been around the city of Singapore for a staggering 150 years, it covers a humongous 82 hectares of space which includes land, roads and beautiful flora, ever so pleasing to the eyes. The one part that stands out is definitely the Palm Valley which is packed with dense trees and vegetation with little spaces to make the experience ever so cosy. Head over to SGB on a bright, sunny day and get back home rejuvenated and ready to start the week afresh. Image Credit: Singapore Botanic Gardens Facebook Page

West Coast Park

A slightly lesser known venue, but equally beautiful if you ask me, is the West Coast Park. What better way to spend your day off than at an amphitheatre surrounded by a mass of green where you may risk running into spare kites, owing to the families enjoying the activity. Pack some sandwiches (they always go perfectly well with a flask of lemonade if you’re out on a picnic). If you fancy other eating options though, then you can even head over to the McDonalds which is a stone’s throw from West Coast Park. Image Credit: Nparks.gov.sg

Sengkang Riverside Park

Sengkang Park

Open lawns, groves, parks, greenery, trees, nature, vegetation… The list keeps going on. These are the words which come to mind while talking about picnic spots. Well, add an environmental early childhood centre to it and you’re looking at Sengkang Riverside Park. Oh and did you know, there is a perfectly circular turf which seems like the quintessential spot for a picnic? It’s beautifully spacious for those who don’t like things to be all cramped up, and shady (in the best possible way), so head on over to SRP. We assure you, it will be the best day you’ve had in a long time. Image Credit: BPDG Travels

Hort Park

Who said manicures could only be for your hands? The lawns at Hort Park come well groomed, ready to be sat on, rolled in or walked on. So what’s it gonna be? We recommend taking your shoes off for once and strolling through the spiked grass. Get your pet to the picnic to make your day even more special. Even at Hort Park, there are two options you can choose from. Take your pick between Hortlawn or event lawn depending on where you want to be. Either way, you won’t be disappointed. Hindhede Nature Park

Hindhede Nature Park

You know it’s going to be a good experience when there is “nature” in the name itself. Pay a visit to Hindhede Nature Park, get exploring and find yourself looking at a huge playground accompanied by an open lawn which is just the thing you need for a memorable picnic. Oh and while you’re there, don’t forget to check out the Waringin Hut. The Hindhede Nature Park playground includes a hexagon of swings and climbing nets and the play area is built on two sand pits, around the Waringin Hut. Image Credit: Nparks.gov.sg

Fort Canning Park

It’s always a wise thing to check the weather forecast before you set upon a picnic plan. Well, don’t forget to do that before you head over to Fort Canning Park. Home to the famous Fort Canning Tree Tunnel, this happens to be one of the most sought after spots for a day picnic. Stop by the Fort Canning Centre and prepare to get completely awestruck by its white architecture, brick red stairs and a turf absolutely perfect for executing your picnic plan. Trust us, once you visit this place, you will want to keep coming back. Video Credit: NParksSG

Bay East Garden

The last one on the list (but certainly not the least) is the Bay East Garden which promises the most breathtaking landscape, which includes landmarks like the Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and the Singapore Flyer in a single view. Moreover, if you’re one of those people who need peace and quiet, or are just looking to get some alone time, Bay East Garden is just the right place for you. It welcomes you with a picturesque view and never ending tranquility, and this will be a great opportunity to recenter yourself and regain your focus. Image Credit: Gardensbythebay.com.sg

Soaked in history, artefacts and lush greenery, Fort Canning Park features nine historical gardens, each of them with a unique concept and worth seeing. You can go on a trail as you look around, soak yourself in the greens and historical facts and explore plants like never before in their First Botanic Garden, Sang Nila Utama Garden and Spice Garden. Be sure to pack up a picnic and a camera for you’d surely want to capture yourself amidst the scenic beauty.
