Kilo Kitchen Presents Cooking Beats An All-Vegan Menu With Natural Wines Wed 26 Feb 6pm

Published - 07 February 2020, Friday

Cooking Beats made its return in January 2020 at Sunday Familia Brunch, and Kilo Kitchen is keeping it going in February.

For February’s edition, executive chef Manel Valero will once again take the mantle as he presents a brand new, all-vegan menu for Cooking Beats presents Vegan Mind on Wednesday 26 February 2020.

Cooking Beats started as a way to bring together food, music and conversations. Beginning as a regular affair at our former location at Kilo Kallang, Kilo Kitchen introduced a new theme and an exclusive menu with every event, spearheaded by chefs ranging from Manel Valero to various guest chefs from around the world.

The idea for the menu - like most Cooking Beats specials - stems from a desire to expand the regular Kilo Kitchen offerings, and the focus has turned to classic vegan dishes.

The food that will be offered later this month is a delightful combination of hearty plates — featuring Grilled Zucchini Skewers and Corn (served with chipotle and fried canchita) — and main dishes like Mushroom Udon.

The menu is rounded off by a special dessert item, our Vegan Chocolate Cake. Kilo Kitchen is also proud to present an a la carte menu of all-natural wine curated by our partners in Angra Wine & Spirit.

Food is offered at a fixed menu price of $58++ per pax, and wines will be offered a la carte from $78++ (bottle) onwards.

The night of Vegan Mind will be accompanied by live music, with performers confirmed at a later date.

Kilo kitchen recently launched a new weekday menu full of flavour and innovation that includes lunch bowls like Smoked Ahi Tuna Donburi, Curry Tofu and my favourite, Beef Tongue.

There’s an overlap with some of the popular items from the dinner menu, so if you need a quick lunch with work friends or you want to linger for longer then Kilo Kitchen's new menu is just the ticket.
The location in Duxton is large and open and welcoming. Set amongst a row of shophouses, the space has been affectionately converted into a New York style vintage industrial warehouse, with the inside vibe spilling effortlessly outside!

We all love an open kitchen and Kilo’s does not disappoint. You can prop yourself up at the bar and while sipping on a glass of cool, crisp white wine, you can observe the kitchen team expertly preparing your lunch!

The individual set lunch of 4 courses which includes an appetiser “snack”, one of their new bowls, a broth and a sweet “snack” - as well as a non-alcoholic drink - is a bargain at $25++.

The Crab Croquettes (pictured) with Basil Vinaigrette were divine. The lightly fried breadcrumbs that encased the moreish crab mix was taken to the next level with the basil.

Another special mention goes to the Numbing Burrata with Mala Oil Dukkah with Croutons: the heat of the mala sauce is offset by the cool silkiness of the burrata, but be warned: eat this dish slowly so your lips survive. It's worth taking the time over.
