As Easter approaches, I for one wonder where is best to order hot cross buns in Singapore - away from the supermarket. The Greenwood Fish Market's Quayside Isle Bakery, a most unusual establishment would not have come immediately to mind for bakery products. This well-known brand has hit the nail right on the head.

The Hot Cross Buns will be freshly baked at the Quayside Isle premises over Easter weekend Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 April 2023 by Chef Tan, ex-master baker of Raffles Hotel and Marina Bay Sands. With such high accolades, I just had to have a pre-easter taste and being a reporter for Expat Choice I was on the phone to arrange a tasting quick smart!

In true Greenwood Fish Market style the Hot Cross Buns are comfortably packed in a branded box of eight. The annual traditional delight made with premium French T65 flour, candied fruits and warm spices were aroma-filled as I opened the box.

At a reasonable $19.95 for eight rather large buns I decided to have one immediately. Nothing less than French butter, I munched on one, pleasantly surprised to find that it was not sickeningly sweet. With just the right amount of dried fruit, it far surpassed some others I had tried in the past.

The next morning I had another lightly toasted. Butter melting on the bun as I spread it, this was my best breakfast with coffee. A soft spot for continental breakfasts, I enjoyed every bite. My verdict - delicious. 5 Star quality all the way chef!

Greenwood Fish Market have more than hot cross buns. A range of other baked goods from sourdough to rye will be available for walk-in purchase at Quayside Isle and limited boxes at Bukit Timah, from 8 – 9 April 2023.
