Set of Six is the coolest spot this Expat Choice reporter has been in ages

Every aspect whispers luxury in the classiest way possible. This beautifully appointed cocktail and dining spot is inspired by Joseph Conrad's novel, Set of Six. The marriage of cocktails and cuisine take you on a journey of Conrad's sailing adventures.

It's easy to miss the entrance to Set of Six. It's intentional. When you do open the door you will find yourself in what appears to be an apothecary shop with traditional spices and vintage cabinetry. This is a nod to secret passageways and caches of the smuggler's life.

Yet waiting for you behind the velvet curtain is a gorgeous room with unique furnishings, a giant disco ball, pink palms, monkey light fixtures, a hidden private dining room and the cheeky "bring more champagne" button.

The journey takes you to six places: Spain, Italy, Great Britain, France, Chile and the Seven Seas. Set of Six's executive chef, Gonzalo Landin, has curated two dishes and two cocktails for each journey. Chef Landin is well known from Binomio which is located next door.

The incredible dishes are paired with the most creative and delicious cocktails. And the champagne is flowing in abundance. Make sure to take a trip to the restrooms and stop for an Instagram worthy shot posing in the "Morticia Addams" cane throne bathed in pink neon. Underscoring the whole vibe are the tunes coming from an in-house DJ.

This is an experience not to be missed. Set of Six just opened and reservations are filling up quickly. Thanks to Expat Choice Singapore for always being in the know of the best spots around

I was excited to hear this new venture popping up in my neighbourhood. Craig Road & Keong Saik is only getting better everyday, but a speakeasy wasn't what I expected to be coming next.

I'm a light drinker so I care for a cocktail menu that has a focus on premium spirits, fresh fruits and creativity. At least then I feel guilt free in my rebellious consumption. This place is doing this expertly with the added touch of Spanish food pairing in a a gastronomic story.

We all know that a good story is the best way to convey a message, but having some of my favourite flavours and exciting takes on comfort foods made this heaven

Its clear this place is going to be the new talk of the town for sure!

My standouts on the menu has to be The Mutiny cocktail, albeit my Caribbean roots made me a sucker for a good rum and a lover for all things with pineapple but the pairing of both Trinidadian & Venezuelan rum with the sweetness of pineapple and balanced out by an aromatic bitters made this my perfect cocktail. As I was taken through the voyage of the perfectly paired meals I was delighted to sooth my British comfort food with triple cooked chips & branston sauce. Ok I'm an 80s kid and not everyone will understand the nostalgia that comes with branston pickle but at lease they will appreciate that if your chips go cold, when they're cooked to this perfection there is no love lost!

Great work and big congrats to Chef Gonzolo and the team.
