Rainforest Wild Asia has officially opened its doors, marking a significant milestone in Singapore’s wildlife conservation and adventure tourism landscape. Nestled within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, this innovative zoological park redefines how visitors experience nature, offering an immersive journey through the dense greenery of a Southeast Asian rainforest.
The grand opening, officiated by Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Ms Grace Fu, welcomed the park’s first visitors, setting the stage for an extraordinary rainforest adventure. Designed to mirror the complexity of a real rainforest ecosystem, Rainforest Wild Asia takes guests through its diverse layers—from the towering canopies down to hidden cave chambers. Guests can explore at their own pace, choosing between universally accessible walkways or more challenging forest treks, with guided experiences for those seeking a deeper connection to the wild.
Mike Barclay, Group CEO of Mandai Wildlife Group, described the park as an invitation to uncover wildlife in unexpected corners. The launch marks a key phase in transforming Mandai Wildlife Reserve into a world-leading nature and wildlife destination, with expectations of drawing 900,000 visitors in its first year alone.
Adding to the excitement, Rainforest Wild Asia has also welcomed its first animal birth. A Philippine spotted deer, one of the rarest deer species in the world, has been born within the park, highlighting the crucial role of human-led conservation efforts. Native to the Visayan Islands of the Philippines and listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List, this birth is a testament to the park’s dedication to wildlife preservation. Visitors can spot the young fawn and its mother in the Canopy Zone, offering an intimate glimpse into the fragile balance of nature.
Beyond wildlife encounters, Rainforest Wild Asia offers adrenaline-fuelled adventures designed to elevate the rainforest experience. Forest Adventure, the park’s adventure operator, runs two thrilling add-ons: Adventure+ and Black Adventure. Adventure+ includes the Canopy Jump, where guests experience a simulated free fall from 13 or 20 metres, and AIA Vitality Bounce, an elevated play area with interconnected bounce zones suspended three metres above ground.
For those seeking a more extreme challenge, Black Adventure provides two guided, three-hour harnessed excursions. The Wild Apex Adventure takes visitors across the Canopy and Karst habitats using a via ferrata system of metal rungs, ladders, and suspension bridges, where lucky participants may spot François' langurs scaling vertical cliffs. Meanwhile, the Wild Cavern Adventure plunges explorers into a simulated caving expedition with abseiling, boulder scrambling, and tunnel navigation.
Open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, Rainforest Wild Asia welcomes visitors through Mandai Wildlife West, a vibrant public space featuring dining options and playgrounds. Single-park admission is priced at $43 for adults, $31 for children aged 3 to 12, and $20 for senior citizens. Local residents can enjoy discounted rates until March 2025. Additionally, those looking for year-round access can sign up for a Friends of Rainforest Wild Asia or Friends of Mandai membership, providing unlimited visits and exclusive perks.
