Doing research on a leasing company for your upcoming arrival in Singapore? Read what other expats have to share about Avis’ leasing programme.

How is it like driving in Singapore?

Overall, the drive is very pleasant and convenient, although the driving culture here is quite different from UK. For example there are motorcycles that we have to be careful of. There are overtaking lanes in UK but in Singapore there are only fast lanes, however, it is not that difficult to make the switch!

What factors did you consider when selecting a preferred leasing company?

Cost and service were large component.

In Europe, Avis is a very reputable company. We were looking for a level of service without it being too costly and Avis fulfilled these criteria. Even though the price wasn’t the cheapest in the market, getting quality service from my account manager Jeffrey was worth it.

What is your experience of the car when you first got it?

Looking back in the days when I first received my car, it was nice, spotless and excellent for a 2 to 3-year-old car. Even though the Nissan Almera is a compact car, it is roomy and the trunk is sufficiently large.

What places do you frequent often?

I love going to Port Dickson which is a 4-hour drive to Malaysia. The vehicle is comfortable for 4 of us and our luggage.

Other things we’re given the liberty to do are driving to West Coast Park McDonalds for our weekend breakfast, dropping off my son for sports and my daughter for school activities.

A particular memory of Avis rendering service

I was involved in an accident on the CTE with a couple of cars. The incident was unpleasant but the after service from Avis for repairing the car to getting a replacement vehicle was excellent. The Avis staff was professional and approached the matter positively which was much needed during such a stressful situation.

I thought the collision damage waiver excess from the incident was lost money but the staff at Avis continued to work on seeing if they could help me with the insurance claims from the third party. I was pleasantly surprise to hear that I no longer had to pay the damage waiver excess after Avis helped me follow up.

Could you use 3 words to describe Avis?

I’d have to say “Excellent, reliable and responsive”!
