Shee Wai has more than 18 years of clinical experience and has been helping expatriates deal with their various life challenges in Singapore since 2002 at The Counselling Place. She specializes in marital and relationship counselling. She has been helping couples with issues such as marital and relational conflicts; divorce and separation; marriage preparation and enrichment; cross-cultural relationship issues; parenting concerns and parental alienation.
Crisis Intervention is emergency psychological care aimed at assisting individuals in a crisis situation to restore equilibrium to their functioning and minimize the psychological trauma associated with the crisis event.
It is a short-term therapeutic process that focuses on the rapid resolution of an immediate crisis or emergency using available personnel, family, and/or environmental resources. The priority of crisis intervention is to increase stabilization. Our staff has experience and expertise in providing the necessary support in situation of crisis to the victim, next of kin, organization, and other authorities.
Some examples of crisis:
Natural disaster: earthquake, tsunami, fire, flood, volcano, hurricane, weather related incident, etc
Man-made disaster: factory explosion, fog, oil spill, building collapse, etc
Family disruption or disturbance: new born, death, illnesses (mental and physical), divorce/separation, abortion
Suicide: threat, attempts, or completed
Economic change: job loss, financial struggles, theft
Life events: new birth, death, children leaving home, retirement

Crisis Response Training
Our staff at The Counselling Place have the skills and expertise to provide the required training for various level of personnel to effectively response and prepare for crisis. 1. An introduction to the fundamentals of Crisis Intervention. How to provide psychological first aid to people affected by critical events.
Recommended for organization, agencies, and individuals working with people who experienced crisis situations. Provides baseline training in theory of crisis, crisis care strategies such as contact, safety and comfort, stabilization, information gathering, practical assistance, social support, providing helpful information and linking with specialty care.
