Located just on the edge of Chinatown, The LoKal is a twist on the classic Aussie café, providing all customers with great homemade food — including butter, yogurt, sauces and pickles all made on site.
The Lokal is all about making as much they can themselves in-house, hence the smoke, brine, cure, pickle, etc. They believe in serving good food, coffee, and alcohol together with warm & friendly staff. Head for breakfast, lunch, or dinner & make them your "Lokal" too

The restaurant serves great breakfast and brunch items on the menu, and the location is brilliant with Chinatown and Duxton for a quick stroll after. I was there for their Christmas Eve dinner, and to be honest a bit disappointed. The food preparation and delivery wasn't the best. They messed up the order a few times, and very little attention was paid to clearing up the table properly before piling up plates. Great place, but for breakfast only for me!
sorry, not impressed at all. I booked for the Christmas eve dinner. The seating was 5:30pm until 7:15pm. We made our orders. the waitress was all too bubbly and she really didn't listen. I had to repeat my order back to her and when the meal arrived it was still wrong. I had to scoop off the mashed potatoes onto a side plate and they wouldn't even remove it from the table. The serving of ham was so small in comparison to my dinner dates' beef meal. The turkey I ordered was dry and the overall meal was under whelming. It was such a disappointment as it was a special Christmas Eve dinner and it was a bad experience.
