Vatos Urban Tacos

Vatos

Vatos Urban Tacos sprang from the minds (and bellies) of three Korean-Americans who wanted to offer a new type of dining experience in Korea.Kenny and Sid hail from Southern California, and Juweon planted his roots in Texas; hence, all three spent the majority of their lives growing up on authentic Mexican food. Simultaneously, all three were fed a steady diet of home-made Korean food lovingly prepared by their first generation mothers. Inevitably, such an environment led to the natural progression towards Korean-Mexican fusion cuisine, and to the creation of dishes like the Kimchi Carnitas Fries, Galbi Tacos, and Spicy Chicken Quesadillas were born.

This is a good list. I still love
Super Loco at Robertson Quay. El Mero Mero has the best guacamole in town.

I actually like Iguana Cafe in Clarke Quay. Their chicken burrito was really good and my daughter loved their fresh guacamole.

I've tried over half of these places before. Love my mexican. As we frequent Holland Village we have been to this place numerous times. Always have had the best experience and never gone wrong with our orders or meals. Clearly a very established restaurant and know what they're doing. Try the Margarita's too, can't go wrong!

Accuracy and honesty of review requires a bit more information. I am from California in the USA. Mexican food is everywhere, Baja Fresh & Chipotle are NOT good comparisons to rate authenticity. Here is a review of some places mention & left out.

Vatos - good food, but a bit expensive. Kim Chee Fries are very flavorful, but definitely NOT Mexican in any way. Drinks are very expensive
Muchachos - skip it, microwave Mexican food. Enchiladas are soggy, burritos are large and tasteless.
Margaritas - good food and drink, very pricey
Barrio - skip it, not even close to Tex Mex
El Patio - skip it, go next door to Cha Cha Cha, pork is not on the menu
Cha Cha Cha - very good food and drinks, excellent Chili Verde. Closest to authentic Mexican in SG
Senor Taco - good taqueria style tacos, skip the enchiladas, good variety of sauces
Piedra Negra - go to the one on Beach & Haji Lane. Excellent food and drink. Closest to authentic Mexican in SG.

Thank you for the article. It was very informative.
