Best Crepes in Singapore For a Parisian Breakfast

Published - 04 May 2018, Friday

Crepes are ever-so versatile. These paper-thin pancakes can take you to sweet paradise and even satiate your savoury cravings. From cheesy fillings to the classic chocolate and banana topping, a well-made crepe can be delightfully satisfying.

Unofficially the National Dish of France, crepes were created in the middle ages in the Brittany area of North West France. Their popularity spread over centuries and now people love them the world over.

All this talk making you yearn for one? Hold on, you don’t need to book your tickets to France just yet. We’ve discovered some great creperies in Singapore which will transport you to a Parisian Café, with no transit time. Here are our picks of the best crepes in Singapore:

Entre-Nous Crêperie

Topping this list, Entre-Nous is a tiny Crêperie in a by-lane off Esplanade station. Run by a French couple, the crepes served here are traditional and authentic, honoring Brittany, the birthplace of the dish. The buckwheat crepes are not only healthier but also delicious. They have a 2-page-long menu to choose from, our favourite being ham and button mushrooms with béchamel sauce. One bite and you will not wonder why this café is rated #1 of all restaurants in Singapore on Tripadvisor.

Antoinette

Parisian patisserie Antoinette may be popular for its cakes and confectionary items but the crepes are outstanding as well. For something indulgent, try the Crepe Nordic stuffed with smoked salmon, red onions, dill cream cheese and capers. Located close to Lavender MRT station, Antoinette is a favourite amongst those who live on the eastern side of the island.

O Comptoir

Matching French elegance with Singaporean flair, O Comptoir serves galettes reminiscent of France. The chic crêperie and bar is a modern reinterpretation of its traditional Parisian counterpart. The menu offers eclectic options though sweet crepes dominate here with the salted butter caramel crepe stealing our heart.

Saybons

An old-hand, Saybons has been around for a while. Its popularity doesn’t dip though and the wallet friendly prices make it a favourite amongst many. Try the classic soft nutella and banana crepe and you’ll be coming back for more.

The White Rabbit

The White Rabbit is possibly one of the prettiest restaurants in Singapore, housed in a beautifully restored chapel. The stained glass windows and tall ceilings add to its unmistakable charm. Try the crepe suzette here which is flambéed tableside with aplomb and served with a creamy scoop of vanilla gelato.
