Base Entertainment Asia, in association with GWB Entertainment, is thrilled to announce the limited engagement of the acclaimed new production of Cameron Mackintosh's iconic musical, Miss Saigon, at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands beginning August 15, 2024.
Miss Saigon, which has had immense success in Australia and made a victorious debut at the Sydney Opera House, is sure to fascinate spectators in Singapore with its captivating storyline and breathtaking performances. Hailed as one of the best musicals of all time, it has received an astonishing 70 major theatre honours, including two Olivier honours, three Tony Awards, and four Drama Desk Awards. With a legacy of 38 million viewers across 32 countries and 350 cities, this production from Les Misérables authors Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg continues to captivate audiences around the world.
Cameron Mackintosh expressed his delight about the Singapore season, saying, "I'm thrilled to be bringing my spectacular new production of Miss Saigon to Singapore." Chantal Prudhomme, CEO of Base Entertainment Asia, reiterated Mackintosh's sentiments, emphasising the show's fascinating Asian viewpoint and capacity to connect with people worldwide. Miss Saigon tells the story of Kim, a young Vietnamese lady orphaned by war, who ends up working at a bar under the Engineer's supervision. Her life changes dramatically when she falls in love with Chris, an American G.I. However, their love is put to the test when they are separated due to the fall of Saigon. Kim embarks on a moving journey of love, sorrow, and strength as she seeks to reunite with Chris and their kid.
Miss Saigon, with its remarkable ensemble and incomparable score, including legendary songs like "The Heat is On in Saigon" and "The Movie in My Mind," offers a theatrical experience unlike any other.
Laurence Connor's new show features outstanding production design by Matt Kinley and Totie Driver, mesmerising costume design by Andreane Neofitou, and compelling lighting design by Bruno Poet. Miss Saigon, with orchestrations by William David Brohn and musical supervision by Alfonso Casado Trigo and Guy Simpson, provides an unparalleled visual and audio spectacle.
