&Beyond, a luxury experiential and conservation organisation, plans to revolutionise the safari experience in Kenya's Laikipia region by forming an Exclusive Tourism Concession with Space for Giants, a worldwide conservation nonprofit. Through a multi-decade lease, &Beyond will acquire exclusive rights to the Suyian Conservancy, a pristine wilderness area in north-western Laikipia. This partnership is a crucial step towards accomplishing &Beyond's long-term goal of extending their effect and presence in Kenya, as well as confirming their commitment to conservation and community development.

Joss Kent, CEO and Executive Chairman of &Beyond, sees the expansion into Laikipia as a key addition to the company's Kenya circuit. Laikipia is a fascinating region with a diverse range of animals, including some globally vulnerable species. This makes it an important place for &Beyond's efforts to safeguard endangered species and habitats while still providing a high-end luxury safari experience. As the conservancy's exclusive operator, &Beyond intends to construct a variety of housing choices, including a luxury lodge, tented camp, sky beds, and mobile camping experiences, all meant to provide visitors with a more intimate connection to nature.

The collaboration with Space for Giants is especially significant given the charity's ground-breaking work in wildlife conservation across Africa. Dr. Max Graham, the charity's founder, refers to Suyian Conservancy as the organization's soul, citing its importance as a crucial corridor for wildlife movement and its role in protecting endangered species. The charity's strategy is on converting private ranches into non-profit wildlife conservancies that benefit local communities by creating jobs and supporting economic growth. This method is consistent with &Beyond's ethos of merging conservation with community empowerment

Suyian Conservancy's distinctive geography and diverse species provide an appealing setting for the new collaboration. The region is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including rare species like the black leopard and African wild dog, as well as northern Kenyan specialties like Grevy's zebra and reticulated giraffe. Guests at &Beyond Suyian Lodge will be able to participate in a variety of activities other than standard safaris, such as walking, camel, and horseback riding safaris, as well as interesting botanical walks and cultural interactions with local tribes such as the Samburu and Pokot. The conservancy's proximity to important destinations such as Nairobi and the Northern Frontier region makes it an excellent starting point for further exploration and adventure.

Suyian's transformation from a cow ranch to a conservation area has benefited biodiversity as well as community development. The conservancy aims to restore soil health and biodiversity through limited cow ranching and rotational grazing, while also providing a more diverse income source for neighbouring people. This innovative strategy is consistent with &Beyond's vision of caring for the land, wildlife, and people, promoting a harmonious balance of conservation and community interests.

The collaboration between &Beyond and Suyian Conservancy marks a new age of sustainable tourism in Kenya. By establishing an exclusive wildlife viewing experience while following to stringent conservation ethics, &Beyond is positioned to provide a one-of-a-kind and enriching safari experience that benefits both animal conservation and community development. The &Beyond Suyian Lodge, set to open in July 2025, promises to be a retreat for individuals seeking an honest and personal relationship with nature.
