We are often asked - How do you learn to Ride a Horse?

"Am I too old to learn to horse ride?" "Are my children too young to Ride?" Horse riding can be enjoyed at all ages, from the very young to the older riders. And horse riding is great exercise for all ages. You can build core, muscle tone, confidence, personality, etc.

So how do you go about learning to ride a horse?

We suggest that if you have really never ridden a horse correctly, you give it a try (that's all ages). You can enrol in a trial lesson at Rider's Resort, join a riding program for two or three days, or spend a weekend trying things out.

Then if you enjoy it and really think horse riding is for you, you can develop a riding plan to develop your skills. We have riders that ride every day, or every week, or even once a month. Of course your riding frequency normally determines how quickly your riding will improve. Like any sport, the more practice, the better you get.

If you know what you want to achieve, that will work better. Some new riders just want to experience riding and see how they like it. Others want to regain lost skills that they had as younger people. And children normally love horses and want to be around them, and most want to learn to horse ride.

And remember its important that you select a place that have qualified instructors, well trained horses and a riding policy of "SAFETY ALWAYS FIRST" So give it a try. Don't delay; have fun at Rider's Resort, get some exercise and enjoy horses.

Whatever your age, you can find a riding place that fits your needs, your plans, and your budget. And horse riding gets everyone out of the air con, off their phones, and into the fresh air of the green countryside surrounding. Time with horses is fun, great for the kids, helps you relax and adds a bit of fitness work to your life.

So whatever your age or your children's age, give it a go. Most people will find it a fun and satisfying experience.
