Nestled within the culturally rich Mountbatten district, Goodman Arts Centre is a mere 15 minutes drive from the city centre and 5 minutes walk from the nearest Mountbatten MRT Station.

Housed within the compound are the National Arts Council of Singapore, some 46 arts and creatives group as well as 35 shared facilities for rental to the arts community including a Black Box theatre, Multi-Purpose Hall, galleries, rehearsal studios, music and art studios, and seminar rooms. 

Set within a beautiful and charming ground amongst old school buildings and lush greenery, Goodman Arts Centre provides the perfect setting for inspiration and creative work.

The annual Jazz At The Red Dot Workshop features top New York jazz musician-educators who will teach participants from of all musical genres and levels the art of jazz improvisation.

The 2019 faculty includes Aaron Goldberg (Piano), Matt Penman (Bass), Leon Parker (Drums), John Ellis (Saxophone), together with local jazz musician-mentors Alemay Fernandez (Vocals) and Andrew Lim (Guitar)

Participants will undergo instrument and theory classes, ear-training and guided listening sessions, and ensemble practices to gear up for the final student showcase at the end of the workshop!

There’s something for non-musicians as well, seize the opportunity to sit in for the workshop’s Jazz Listening: Open Sessions and learn the language of jazz that gets the musicians you see on stage all excited!
