Almost ten years after the @singaporeflyer established itself as a national icon, I finally succumbed to riding one of its capsules. Being someone who steers away from touristy experiences, preferring personal ones, the unique Wiggle Wiggle makeover tugged at my curiosity.
With five capsules transformed into retro colours and fun designs, this was going to be a unique 30-minute ride in the sky. Wiggle Wiggle, a trendsetting Korean brand who bring playful aesthetics to icons like the @singaporeflyer have flagship stores in Korea, China and Japan.
Brimming with enthusiasm, shorts and cap on, I arrived at the Flyer amidst a bevy of other media, mostly young I observed. Was I in the right place? First question mark?
An opportunity to take selfies with Wiggle Bear and Little Play Bunny located at the entrance of the Singapore Flyer and at the Sky Deck. Hearing squeals of children elated at the sight of these was enough to bring joy to my heart. I was happy that they were happy.
There were five Wiggle Wiggle capsules at the @singaporeflyer and we were rushed into one as it arrived, doors closing behind us. And away we went. Slowly with great stability, I thought kids would have a heyday walking around the rather large capsule with confidence.
Beautiful views of Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay from totally unique angles. Nice! Raffles Place and Marina Bay revealed construction at new developments about to change the landscape of the area.
A single experience ticket for $50 that includes one rotation, discount vouchers redeemable at two stores on the way out. I am not sure how parents could avert the attention of young ones at this point. Definitely a dent in the pocket.
Wiggle Wiggle in the Sky is in Singapore from 23 May through to 28 September. An exciting treat for kids, a unique experience for adults. All up, even I’d give it a thumbs up.
