Tales of Singapore

Published - 09 January 2018, Tuesday

In 2015 Ingela Johansson’s art was featured in Channel 5 series “Tales of 2 cities”. Ingela moved to Singapore 2012 and was almost infatuated by the contrasts and culture experiences in her new “home” country. “A day in Singapore can almost be like travelling round the globe. You can have breakfast in a Parisian café, lunch in India, dinner in Mexico and club as you would in NewYork. In between you work as hard.”

Her art series “Tales of Singapore” is about this experience. It is also about the jutaxpositions in this society that keeps on surprising like the monk at Prada. What is he doing outside the luxury brands?

Another interesting view point for the artist is that Singapore changes so rapidly that 10 years from now these artworks will look completely different. The globalization is the background in the artworks. She has now turned them in to fine art prints in a limited edition of 28 pcs per artwork.

Each canvas print is delivered with a number, signed and stamped by the artist. A great gift as a memory of Singapore. Ingela also does commission work if you want your own favourite spot painted.

About the Artist

Artist Ingela Johansson aims to capture “The thougt between the spoken word and what the eye captures”. The celebrated French painter Degas once said that art isn’t about what one sees, but what one makes other people see. And that is what Swedish-born, Singapore based artist Ingela Johansson attempts to do. Ingela Johansson was educated in London, Borås and Stockholm. In 2015 she held international exhibitions in Singapore, Australia and Sweden. Her art hangs at art collectors in Australia, England, New Zealand, Sweden, Dubai, Norway, France, Germany , Bali and Singapore.

Blue Memory

This painting has a “stamp” of a memory, a feeling of blue and a pose that is reaching out to what is yet to come.
