Book by calling +65 6222 0089 and you’ll be on your way to Mazzo for a steal deal of only $24 per person. Usually priced at $48 per person, now is the time to take advantage of this 1 for 1 offer.

With two dining options, Mazzo provides a softer ambience for diners who like the restaurant feel and a funky, red-styled high table bar atmosphere in the next room.

If I were dining with younger ones in a family or friends group, my preference would be for the latter. Drinks are also on the menu at bargain prices - $7 for a pint of beer all night long? That’s insane!

Wine drinkers fret not for Mazzo has you covered too. Only $7 for a glass of house pour or if you’d like a yummy glass of Sangiovese off the menu, it is still reasonably priced at $10.

I know Corona is a word you might not want to hear but a bottle is also $7 all night long. For all diners with or without Corona, Mazzo practices social distancing.

As I walked in to the restaurant, my temperature was taken and I was also handed a hand sanitiser to start my dining experience. How things have changed! I was grateful that safety of diners was observed.

With a choice of 4 starters, 5 mains and 2 desserts for the set meal, I felt that we were in for a treat. Always opting for bread as it’s my soft spot I tried the bruschetta with mushroom and tomatoes.

Mushrooms were sautéed well and tasted delicious on the focaccia it was served on. I was intrigued by the salad with a sous vide egg. Chef Gino of Sri Lankan extract clarified that not just meat can be cooked in the sous vide way. A new one for me!

When you are at Mazzo do ask for Patrick the General Manager, for he is a man about town. Well informed and ever so engaging, he sat down to give us some background to this restaurant that stands in the prime area of Club Street.

As mains arrived, he promptly went on to tell us that pizzas were good at Mazzo. With a good layer of salami and cheese I loved the thin crust more. If you prefer pasta this is the place to have it, as it is hand made.

I had the minced beef pasta which on arrival looked pretty beefy but as I had a bite, found it to be really delicious and tender. Chef Gino did say that the sauce was the magic of this dish.

My Mazzo favourite of the night was the grilled chicken leg with roast potatoes and mushroom. It was so well grilled just like Mum used to make it. Potatoes were roasted beautifully too, soft on the inside and grilled well on the outside.

If chicken is your meat then this is a dish not to be missed. If you prefer beef then the grilled striploin would be the way to go.

I could see where Chef Gino’s 20 years of experience cooking Italian food had found a home. At Mazzo he really does put on great fare. I totally loved the fresh seabass with market vegetables.

Parting at the mere touch of my fork, I knew the fish was fresh. I loved the grilled taste of the vegetables accompanying this dish. A menu well carved out and a great option for non-meat diners.

If you are one who loves variety, I would say order different starters and mains and have a pick at each. I started off my culinary journey this way and am still doing it as I can’t get enough of food variety.

With hardly any space for dessert, I had a pick of the chocolate brownie and tiramisu. Not a drawcard for me as the savoury delights that came before it.

This is seriously a good deal for patrons looking to cut the stay at home regime. If you do want to eat out and are wondering if Mazzo is safe, yes it is. Get online and make your booking soon at http://www.expatchoice.asia

It isn’t every day that you’ll enjoy such great one for one deals at rock bottom prices!

Mazzo is now a favourite of ours. The food is hearty and plenty of it. The restaurant has been in club street for many years and recently taken over and still attracts strong support of regular diners which only proves the consistency here between the old owner and the new. Great work. We will be supporting you through the COVID-19 isolation period. We love your pastas. Excellent meal for a comfort food in the home as much as in your restaurant. We will help spread the word for you guys.

Noti now known as MAZZO What a great bar and restaurant. We've always had the best experience here. The owner and staff go above and beyond to make sure you're looked after and have an enjoyable night. If you're not sure what to eat, just ask. You will be pleasantly informed and if you can't decide, leave it to the staff.
