Perched 100 metres up on Singapore’s latest 51-storey skyscraper CapitaSpring, the new high-rise icon of the financial district, Sol & Luna is a Latin-European bistro nestled in the building’s Green Oasis, a unique sanctuary-in-the-sky of lush greenery.
Sol & Luna is Latin for ‘Sun & Moon’, the two celestial bodies vital for life to exist. Our constant companions in the sky, they contrast and complement each other. Both share the role of light-giver: the Sun a fiery furnace in the day; the Moon a glowing orb at night.
The Sun and Moon gave their names in Latin to two of the most important days of the week – Monday ('the moon day') and Sunday ('the sun day'). Monday opens the week and sets its tone and pace, while Sunday brings the curtains down for a well-earned rest and a re-set for the coming week.
And so, the Sun and Moon can be said to be at the ‘centre of life, day to night’. Similarly, Sol & Luna is located in the heart of it all – the throbbing financial district where it is ‘always close, but never closed’. As the all-day, every-day, and all-occasion go-to destination for diners near and far, it is as essential as the Sun and Moon.
Sol & Luna shines the light on four classical cuisines. Like the synergy between the Sun and Moon, it brings together dishes from the Latin-European region – Italy, France, Portugal and Spain, in a seamless menu of timeless recipes, reinvented with a twist and finesse – from sunrise to sundown. Diners can fuel up with breakfast in the morning or indulge themselves at different times of the day with afternoon tea, tapas, sumptuous lunch and dinner, and drinks.
These can all be savoured in different settings – within the bistro; at the alfresco terrace; or at any of the work and social spaces within the nearly 43,000 square feet Green Oasis; where pockets of human activity surrounded by greenery give rise to a sense of belonging and connection, a centredness within the rhythm of life.
At Sol & Luna, new discoveries await like in the days when Sun, Moon and Stars showed seafarers the way forward. Except that now it is an epicurean adventure through four different Latin-European cuisines. The curated menu showcases the best of each cuisine such as a selection of fresh house-made and hand-crafted pastas; Truffle Risotto; and Grilled Radicchio with Taleggio, Balsamic & Pistachio from Italy.
French offerings include Afternoon High Tea of sweets and savouries; and Smoked Duck & Foie Gras Rillette. From the Portuguese come the Piri Piri Chicken Thigh and Portuguese Egg Tarts; as well as White Gazpacho and ‘Escalivada’ Ragout from Spain.
Beverages also reflect the drinking culture of each Latin-European country, featuring a base alcohol widely enjoyed in the respective countries. Sensation De Poire from France is a blend of cognac, Williams pear, apple pear fennel syrup, lemon, and egg white. The Italian Dolce Ibisco features gin, Aperol, apricot, orgeat, lemon, and hibiscus tonic; while Spain’s Cidra Morada Y Vino consists of white wine, blood orange, Licor 43, sugar, lemon, and red cabbage soda – similar to a Sangria. Raizes Natives from Portugal is a concoction of Cachaca, homemade Beirao, lime, agave, and soda.
From its 17th-floor vantage 100 metres above ground, Sol & Luna offers spectacular views of the urban skyline. However, the Green Oasis, in which the bistro is nestled, is one of the star features of the building. This promenade, over four stories, is a hive of lifestyle, dining, and collaborative spaces joined by curving stairways, decks and balconies amid trees and cascading vertical gardens. The Green Oasis amply lives up to its epithet ‘a place to work, play and grow’.
Discover a comfortable nook for yourself among the many outdoor spaces of this multi-experiential playground. Work on your laptop; take a welcome break; or grab a bite solo, or with friends, family and colleagues. Like its heavenly namesakes, Sol & Luna is the centre of life here whether you choose to bask in the sunlight and breeze of its alfresco terrace, or in the warm ambience of its indoor dining area or bar.
