The Pomona Distilling Co story isn’t just about a distillery, it’s about a community that looks after each other and showcasing Pomona to the world and creating a concept and product that focuses on quality, not quantity. Expat Choice is delighted to introduce you to this wonderful experience.
They are a small-batch boutique distillery specialising in artisan spirits. They believe that some things are worth waiting for and Pomona Distilling Co is one of those things.
You won’t find pallets of their product at their farm, you’ll find hand-crafted bottles of premium spirits, purified with activated charcoal, and aged appropriately to allow the botanicals the respect and journey they deserve.
This story has been a long time in the making for their Master Distiller and owner, Robin Yates. His passion for the alchemy of spirits goes back to his old Uni days of distilling in the back of the chemistry lab while studying to be an Industrial Chemist.
Robin now spends his days at his Pomona farm in the Noosa Hinterland region of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast experimenting with gin blends using native botanicals, some foraged straight from their farm. Pomona's aim is to use locally sourced products where possible, with exception of their juniper berries which come directly from Eastern Europe, home to the highest quality juniper that creates their signature gin flavour and smooth finish.
They are inspired by the Pomona Spirit – The hard-working farmers, the small business owners, the heritage, and most importantly their community. Their town is aptly named after the Roman goddess of fruitful abundance, and just as Pomona did, they want to provide for their town and showcase all that comes from within the 4568 postcode.
Situated in the historical site of the original Pomona Bakery in the early 1900’s, The Bistro delivers a relaxed atmosphere with delectable food and an extensive array of drinks ideal for any time of the day.
The Garden Bar area is a multi-purpose space made perfect for celebration and enjoyment. They have something for everyone with an Art Gallery, outdoor Tap House, Cellar, Vat Room, and Bar area that comes alive every weekend. There is live music available most Saturday & Sunday afternoons so throw a picnic blanket out onto the grass, and let the good times roll.
The Menu is honest, earthy, simple, and fresh direct from our community’s paddock to your plate all designed to be shared and enjoyed. There is something for all appetites from large and small share plates, grazing platters, and sides.
At Pomona Distilling Co they allow the journey from grain to glass the time it deserves to deliver a spirit that is as smooth and pure as the earth from which it came from. That same respect is given to their vision of creating a distillery that brings their community together and brings a sense of pride to the town of Pomona.
Pomona strives to be the drink to share with friends, the cause for celebration, the place to meet, and the space for creative expression, and the sense of pride amongst their town. More importantly, they want their community to feel that this is their spirit, their place – The Pomona Spirit.
