Cheeers ( yes with 3 E's ) is a cool vibe neighbourhood bar come pub serving up excellent drinks, excellent bar bites and rolling out the tunes of the 80s and 90s. The bar has a great people vibe, indoor and outdoor seating ( allowing for smokers ) and an interesting mix of "well-behaved" but very happy drinkers.
One would say an international crowd is attracted to this bar. You are destined to meet new people when you visit Cheeers which is located on Joo Chiat Road in the East Coast of Singapore. This is definitely what we would refer to as a destination bar, but do book in advance as the bar does get a frequent full house - as much as social gathering restrictions allow.
This is one of those bars you will be satisfied to travel across town to visit or park yourself at after shopping along the vibrant Joo Chiat shopping strip. Ask for Sam - the owner - when you call to make a reservation, why not mention Expat Choice - many of our readers have discovered this gem so let's keep that flow going!
Apart from the extensive drinks menu, which includes an excellent selection of liqueurs, cocktails ( great images above ) and beers, Cheeers offers an old world Singapore touch of friendly hospitality without any pretentiousness whatsoever. What Expat Choice readers have found here is Cheeers is run like clockwork. You'll never be without a drink, or a light bar meal which is perfect when you are socialising.
Providing a Gastropub menu, the bar takes precedence, it's all about the watering-hole culture, with purchases by the bottle or jug of decent Single Malts, Blended Scotch & Whiskies, Gin, Vodka and all the expected tipples - which we found excellent value for money - although mention has to be made of the "made with love" Cheeers bar food - we all need to eat - Right?
The Pizza's are cooked in a pizza oven at such a high temperature the crust becomes crisp and the base is definitely charred to perfection. Try the Pepperoni ( pictured above ) with lashings of cheddar, Mozzarella, pepperoni ( of course ) and a decent splash of sliced black olives. Or a variation on the Pepperoni Pizza - the Apple and Bacon Pizza, again with lashings of cheddar, Mozzarella, Apple and Bacon and a drizzle of black olive. Pizza priced between SG$22-SG$25
The Cheeers Buffalo Wings ( pictured above ) are always popular as is Sam's Mutton Masala ( a great success in the delivery days of lock down ) and Sam's Red Devil Chicken Curry (pictured below). All bar meals priced between SG$12-SG$20
This is an all-round neighbourhood bar where everybody is welcome. The combination of awesome people, drinks, bar bites, 80’s music, Private Event Bookings ( when socialising in larger numbers is allowed ), Retro Nights and so much more to look forward to proves to be a winning combination. As mentioned above, make yourself known to Sam, the owner and bar manager, he is a wealth of information on any number of topics, an all-round light-hearted host - and not to forget we must mention, a talented DJ to say the least. Highly recommended, check Cheeers out then spread the word. #supportlocal
