Burma Social has always been more than just a restaurant—it's a passport to Southeast Asia's most vibrant culinary traditions. With the launch of their ambitious new menu celebrating cuisines from six Asian kingdoms, the Tras Street location has cemented its position as one of Singapore's most sophisticated yet accessible destinations for Pan-Asian dining.
Stepping into Burma Social feels like discovering a well-kept colonial secret. We chose the side dining room for our evening, a space that immediately captivates with its deep green walls and lush, colonial-era ambiance. The room possesses that rare quality of feeling both intimate and grand—perfect for a celebratory dinner, yet equally suited for private gatherings seeking atmosphere without pretension.
The evening began as all good meals should: with stunning signature cocktails that set the tone for what followed. Burma Social's libations are thoughtfully crafted, balancing familiar spirits with unexpected Asian influences that intrigue rather than overwhelm.
From the new menu, we embarked on a genuinely Pan-Asian exploration. The Avocado Lahpet Thoke arrived first—fresh, vibrant, and utterly delicious. This Burmese tea leaf salad, reimagined with creamy avocado, exemplifies what Burma Social does best: honouring tradition while embracing contemporary tastes. Each bite delivered complex layers of texture and flavour, the kind of dish that makes you slow down and savour.

Next came the Piquillo Wild Roll, a testament to the kitchen's sushi expertise, followed by the Gold-Dusted Prawn & Chives Har Gao. These delicate dim sum parcels, touched with edible gold, married luxury presentation with substance—juicy prawns encased in translucent, perfectly steamed wrappers that demonstrated technical precision.
Crab emerged as our evening's undisputed star. The Soft-Shell Crab Bao buns arrived beautifully composed, the crispy crab nestled in pillowy steamed buns with pickled vegetables and a drizzle of Sriracha that added just enough heat. But the main event—the Coastal Crab Curry & Pav—proved genuinely memorable. Rich Malvani coconut curry enveloped tender crab, served alongside warm ladi pav bread perfect for soaking up every last drop of that aromatic sauce.

The braised pork belly rounded out our savoury selections, wok-fried to achieve that coveted combination of melt-in-your-mouth tenderness with crispy, caramelised edges. It's comfort food elevated, the kind of dish that reminds you why simple preparations, executed brilliantly, never go out of style.
What makes Burma Social particularly special is its ability to appeal to diverse palates. International guests discover authentic Southeast Asian flavours presented accessibly, while locals appreciate the sophisticated execution and thoughtful curation. The shophouse setting—with its gorgeous bar space and multiple dining areas—creates an environment that's equally appropriate for casual drinks or special occasions.

The new menu successfully expands Burma Social's already impressive repertoire without losing sight of its Burmese roots. Each dish tells a story of cultural exchange along ancient trade routes, where kingdoms shared not just goods but culinary wisdom. In Singapore's crowded Pan-Asian dining scene, Burma Social distinguishes itself through genuine respect for tradition combined with the confidence to innovate.
Whether you're a Tras Street regular or planning your first visit, this new menu offers compelling reasons to experience—or rediscover—what makes Burma Social a consistent favourite in Singapore's ever-evolving dining landscape.
