What a pleasure it was to test out the Festive delights that Florette in the Pan Pacific Orchard has to offer!

First shout out is to the hotel itself... it is stunning. There is some irony in turning the corner from a not so fancy part of Orchard to encounter the newly rebuilt Pan Pac. As you enter the drive way, you suddenly feel as if you have been whisked away to a luscious, natural retreat. There is greenery and water everywhere. I felt transported from Singapore and suddenly calm, even though I was only 10 minutes’ walk from home.

Now for Florette and the festive treats. Florette is located on Level 11, in the Garden Terrace of the hotel and is on a normal day, a champagne and oyster bar. But for this time of the year, they are morphing into an adult version Santa’s Grotto, with toys replaced by sophisticated canapes and cocktails all borrowing from traditional Christmas flavours for their Festive Afternoon tea and evening drinks.

The food was simply outstanding (and if you know me, you know that is a big call). We sampled a variety of canapes, my favourite being roast beef with melt in the mouth foie gras and yummy scallops bathing in delicate Asian flavours. Turkey and ham were also on the menu with all the trimmings you would expect and then onto a huge array of delightful desserts. Think of your favourite Christmas dessert and it was probably on the menu somewhere! I had a particularly decadent chocolate layer cake that offered crunchy biscuit textures as the perfect foil to rich and velvety chocolate mousse. We also were treated to Christmas-y cocktails. I particularly liked “Let it Snow” a vodka based cocktail served in a glass rimmed in fine coconut flakes, reminiscent of a snow globe!

Big shout out as well to the entertainment provided by the boys from Extra Ordinary People http://www.extraordinarypeople.sg . Extra Ordinary People use music therapy to help children with special needs and it was a joy to see the band in action. Also I do want to mention the Pan Pac management here. You often see organisations support charities as a “show” when they are hosting a media event but you could see the genuine love and joy that the Pan Pac team got from supporting this wonderful group of truly extra ordinary people.

If my experience of just one of the venues that the Pan Pacific Orchard has to offer is anything to go by then you must do yourself a favour and get along to try out brunch or dinner or drinks or a stayca or all of it! I am currently planning my return visit as I type :)
