We’re inviting you to immerse yourself in spectacular colours, layers of wonder and prisms of light right where you are. Join us for an online exhibition exploring the energetic work of Australian abstract expressionist, Lara Scolari. The virtual exhibition is open online until 8 August 2020.

Lara’s latest body of work, Vim Vitae captures the life force that bubbles and bursts invisibly all around us, and burns just as brightly in our body and minds even as we sit still; especially as we sit still. Celebrating our creative energy Lara’s paintings are a reminder that renewal is a constant available to all of us. Her signature organic motifs are conjured into shape with rope and other natural materials and rendered in swirls of ink up to 40 layers deep.

The effect is like looking into the deep through crystal clear waters - we can’t change the nature of things but we can shift our perception and evolve. “I create landscapes of life force,” explains Lara. “I’m tapping into vibrations and responding to the moment,” which can be felt in the dynamic brushstrokes and shapes that echo something bubbling under the surface.

“What gives me the greatest joy is seeing the effect that the paintings have on a viewer. The energy of my work prompts a dialogue that continues between the artwork and the person observing it, long after I’ve finished. And each time they look at it, it seems to change, like the quality of stained glass,” says Lara. We invite you to see for yourself. Get outside your four walls and transcend your current view with a look at inside via our Vim Vitae: The Journey Within online gallery.

In a time when it’s easy to doubt, Lara reminds us of the richness of our scenery and interior spaces. Her bold use of colour, depth of layers and energetic movement encourage us to give reverence and gratitude, rather than wallow in scarcity. Her paintings feel like a celebration; an uplifting of the ordinary that allows us to see beauty in the every day.

ADDICTED NEWS: Addicted is an online art gallery founded by an Australian "Mr" (Blair) and myself "Mrs" (Elena) living in the buzzing metropolis of Singapore. Addicted's diverse portfolio includes; Contemporary Art, with a predominantly South East Asian focus; Urban and Pop Art, featuring well known and highly respected artists whose works will make you think, laugh and question; and lastly, beautiful Vintage Posters and Art Deco inspired works which will transport you to a different time. Greetings from “circuit breaker” central Addictees! Lockdown in Singapore was recently extended to 1 June 2020. Luckily for us, we are surrounded by marvellous art and get to chat to our incredible artists (and sometimes ourselves) regularly, exchanging tales of newfound skillz in the time of COVID-19 and whether or not we suddenly decided to give ourselves DIY haircuts. You know, all the important stuff. Currently on our speed dial is the cool and fabulous Palestinian artist, Rasha Eleyan. New(ish) to Addicted (you may recall her Peranakan prints), Rasha is in the process of gathering elements and ideas for her new body of work - a political pop art series focusing on women in occupied Palestine. Stay tuned. In the meantime, we are pleased to present to you a selection of Rasha’s work which explores various topics centred around the Middle East (except for That Little Mouse and My Lucky Dragon). Before we jump into the artwork, here’s a little bit about Rasha in the following link: Enjoy! https://addictedgallery.com/roger-rabbit-pop-art-and-palestine-the-art-of-rasha-eleyan
