This weekend, feast, shop and dance under the stars at Armenian Street Party: Living Peranakan, brought to you by the Peranakan Museum.

Are you ready to joget and jive this weekend? Reinterpreting traditions with a contemporary twist, Armenian Street Party: Living Peranakan celebrates the 11 years since the launch of the Peranakan Museum before it closes for renovations.

Bringing the vibrant living Peranakan culture up-close to the masses, festival goers can revel in Singaporean favourites, Peranakan-style – food, shopping, music and dancing! The first programme on the newly revamped Armenian Street Park, this year’s party sees performances and activities spread across Armenian Street, Peranakan Museum and [email protected].

Other than sedap Peranakan cuisine such as nyonya laksa and chendol drinks, visitors can look out for local acts like comedian Hossan Leong and groovy tunes by the Jazz Djogets. On Friday and Saturday, look out for a spectacular Peranakan fashion show and traditional wedding procession in the evening!

Usually an intimate session, the colourful wedding procession will be a sight to behold as visitors witness the rituals of the 12-day traditional Peranakan wedding ceremony. Great for families, there will also be an exciting line-up of workshops, giveaways, tours and crafts for visitors to immerse themselves in the versatile Peranakan culture. Everyone is encouraged to bring their kampong and take lots of pictures as a merry time awaits!

JUST JOGET & JIVE

Join in as a traditional wedding procession takes over the street, or laugh out loud at stand-up comedians Fakkah Fuzz (Sat) and Hossan Leong (Fri). Get up and joget to traditional tunes, or groove to modern-day acts The Pinholes (Fri) and Akeem Jahat (Sat). DJ sets will round out the night, mixing popular danceable ditties with nostalgic Asian beats: Friday it’s DJ KiDG (Poptart), Saturday DJ A/K/A Sounds (ATTAGIRL!). 

MAKAN & SHOP AT THE BABAZAAR

Visit the pop-up marketplace on Armenian Street! Dig into authentic Peranakan dishes whipped up by babas and nyonyas, and cool down with cocktails with a local twist. They’ll be lots of Peranakan-inspired clothing, accessories, and more so you can take home something special.

ALL HANDS ON DECK

Learn a variety of skills over the two days, including workshops to get creative in the kitchen with Cupplets and Brass Lion Distillery. For craft-lovers, learn traditional nyonya beading, or try a whimsical approach to embroidery. Drop by the museum for a soapbox tour, and create clay jewellery with Peranakan designs
