Golden Valley Art Center (a.k.a. GV) was founded on the 6th December 1987 in a quiet locality popularly known as the Golden Valley.
The gallery took the name from this beautiful place it was located in.

It was started with 15 artists with 65 paintings.
Now the gallery has about 65 member artists showing over 300 paintings in the three exhibition rooms.
The gallery aims to promote Myanmar art both overseas and inland as well as to help the Myanmar artists to survive and create constantly.
Naming it Art Centre instead of Art Gallery indicated that apart from selling paintings, there would be art activities like discussions, group paintings, workshops, lectures, field trips and so, on to top it all.
The member artists occasionally traveled together to Bagan, Shan State and other areas to hunt scenic beauty of Myanmar.
