Volare, formerly known as La Barca is now situated in the heart of Katong in a more casual outfit at the Odeon Shopping Complex. Main attractions include pasta and pizza for sharing. Diners can also expect quality meats at affordable prices, such as Black Angus Fiorentina steaks. There’s an impressive list of Italian whites, reds and sparkling so diners will not be disappointed. I dined at Volare on East Coast Road twice in the past month and both times we had wonderful meals. One the first visit I was delighted with a whole steamed fish cooked and prepared together with lashings of country style vegetables, all cooked in one large dish and served deboned to our table. What an exquisite meal. The cost was a mere $64 and the meal was plenty to fill both our stomachs.
Next visit was a little more on-the-run so I opted for the homemade lasagne. Something hearty and filling. The base was a beef mince and a delicious Italian tomato based sauce, together with cheese oozing with the layers of pasta between. The serving could have been a little bigger but it managed to fill me to the required 80% capacity so as not to over burden my intake. I read recently, apparently you will live longer if you stick to the 80% stomach capacity rule when eating. Let's see how I go this week with my exercise. Great job chef at Volare. Loved both visits and we will definitely be back soon.
