A marriage made in heaven it would seem that Octopus Distribution Networks, one of Singapore’s leading beverage distributors have teamed up with Accolade Wines, one of the world’s leading global wine producers. With Peter Dixon at the helm of Accolade wines you are in for some big wins. Who would know better than a man who grew up in the Barossa Valley with a grandfather who was Managing Director of Berri Estates? I began tasting the gorgeous wines in front of me. I loved the Hardy’s Heritage Reserve Bin Riesling 2018 and why wouldn’t I? Hardy’s is regarded as the father of the wine industry in South Australia. With five generations of winemaking, Hardys’ is known for its wide range of entry-level to luxury wines including Heritage Reserve Bins. Served chilled the dry notes can be paired well with something like burrata or seafood. New Zealand’s Mud House on the other hand is known for producing premium and daily premium table wines. Their trophy-winning Claim 431 Vineyard in Central Otago, a region known for pinot noir, lends a subtle spice and velvety texture to the palette. With something in hand for everyone, my other favourite was the Grant-Burge Benchmark Merlot. Simple and approachable in style, there is no need to decant and it can be paired with any food. If you are looking for an easy drinking wine with no fuss this was delicious. I had it with smoked black cod which was perfect. On a more serious note, a wine that blends perfectly with meat, was the Grant-Burge Meshach Shiraz 2012. A complex wine with aromatic notes of plum, mulberries and dark chocolate truffle tones. This wine was named after Grant Burge’s great grandfather. Remember to decant it before your guests arrive! Grant Burge boast another Shiraz that is vibrant, colourful and bright with no decanting necessary. This Filsell Shiraz is a winner in terms of less care needed especially during the Christmas Season when time is of the essence. If you would like to have a taste of Accolade Wines, select ones are available at restaurants and bars including Rabbit Carrot Gun, Wolfgang's Steak House and Bistecca Tuscan Steak House. The full range of Grant Burge, Hardys and Mud House will be made available on platforms like paneco.com.sg, cellarbration.com.sg and eamart.com. A great time to stock up for the year-end festive season! Take advantage of the 10% discount off Accolade Wines like Hardys’ The Riddle from now until 31 December 2019. Reported by Sylvia Fernandes
