Published - 07 October 2020, Wednesday

Expat Choice recently caught up with founder and visionary for Burn, Aussie bloke and all-round good guy Pav Khialani who shares his love for food, people, brunch (especially on Sunday) and everything wood-fired.

"We think cooking food in a wood-fired oven is the best thing you can do for the flavour and retaining the nutritional values. We take pride in our bread and natural starters producing a variety of natural loafs and flat-bread that are of a sourdough variety."

We went for dinner as a group of 3, social distancing all in order. The service was friendly and excellent ( everything was explained in detail and we were told that all the food is made from scratch) We began with the starters of lamb croquettes which were melt in the mouth lamb, balanced with feta and avocado pesto. This was an excellent beginning followed by cheese jalapeños which were good. For our mains I had the lamb cutlets which were done to perfection, david had the steak which was “simply delicious” to quote him and he liked the asparagus (astonishing us, since that’s a vegetable he’s religiously avoided for years) my friend had the blackened barramundi which was really, really good. We shared desserts- a brownie (massive portion) and heavenly and a tiramisu which was a tad creamy for my taste and didn’t have enough espresso flavor but this is a personal preference. I had the spiced rum with ginger ale as a cocktail which was superb and didn’t disappoint with regards to taste or punch. Overall, an excellent meal and we’ve decided we’d like to revisit Burn to try their pizzas and have a lazy brunch on Sunday. This is a wonderful restaurant with a simple ambience that focuses on food and service.
